Do not hide that testimony, which has been revealed by Allah
Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

138. (We take
our) colour from Allah, and who is better than Allah at colouring. And we are
His worshippers.
139. Say (unto
the People of the Scripture): Dispute ye with us concerning Allah when He is
our Lord and your Lord? Ours are our works and yours your work. And we look
to Him alone.

138. SibgatAllaah. Wa man ‘ahsanu minAllaahi sibgah. Wa
nahnu lahuu ‘aabiduun.
139. Qul ‘atu-haaajjuu-nanaa fIllaahi wa Huwa Rabbunaa
wa Rabbukum. Wa lanaaa ‘a-maa-lunaa wa lakum ‘a-maalukum. Wa nahnu lahuu mukh-lisoon.

Lesson
SibgatAllaah – {(We take our) color from Allah}. It aims “the religion of
Allah”. According to usage, one word “Qabilnaa”
(we embraced) is not found in the proper place, however, it is meant that we
embraced the religion of God Almighty.
The People of the
Scripture (the Children of Israel and the Christians) cause their
children sit down in the colored water and when an individual embraces the
religion of Christianity, they sprinkle over him the colored water. That is
called “’Ista-baagh” means ‘Baptism’.
As if, the color of Christianity is taken from the water by them. The real
color, in fact, grows with Faith and Character.
Contrary to above, it is
commanded that we have taken over the color from God Almighty. The Messenger of
God Almighty (glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) said: Convey the
name of every child in his ear as soon as he is born. Accordingly, after birth,
the Adhan is recited in his right ear
and along with it, ‘qad qaama-tis-Salaah’
(twice) i.e. ‘Takbeer’ in the left
ear. It is the call for him towards the natural religion. Comparatively, the tradition
of causing to sit down in the water is meaningless.
The People of the
Scripture are being warned again that their thought and faith is entirely false,
base of which is that they say: Blessing and Mercy of God Almighty is only for
them. As He is your Lord, He is ours too and which acts we do; those are purely
for Him. Neither we pass our lives sinfully like you, considering that the good
deeds of your pious people would be sufficient for you also, nor do we have any
sense of bias or pride. Then why our Lord Almighty will not accept our good
acts?

Or say ye that
Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes were Jews or
Christians? Say: Do ye know best, or doth Allah? And who is more unjust than
he who hideth a testimony which he hath received from Allah? And Allah is not
Unaware of what ye do.

‘Am taquuluuna ‘inna ‘Ibraahiima wa ‘Ismaa-‘iila wa ‘Is-haaqa
wa Ya’-quuba wal-‘Asbaata kaanuu Huudan ‘aw Nasaaraa. Qul ‘a-‘antum
‘a’-lamu ‘amIllaah. Wa man ‘azlamu mimman-katama shahaadatan ‘indahuu minAllaah.
Wa mAllaahuu bi-gaafilin ‘ammaa ta’-maluun.

Lesson
In this verse, the
Children of Israel and the Christians have been replied for another
misunderstanding and self-made beliefs. They had thought that their Reverends,
the Prophets Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob (peace be upon Them) and Their
children were either followers of Jewish religion or the Christianity, namely
(I seek shelter of Allah Almighty) they had fallen in the sectarian groups also.
God Almighty commands: O
the People of the Scripture! You may consider how much you wish by changing the
forms of the Truths and distorting the incidents but it is fact that these all
Reverend persons and Prophets (peace be upon Them) remained standing on the
pure religion of Oneness of God themselves and as well as they preserved others
to remain on it. It is called Islam. Your knowledge is neither more than God
Almighty and even nor is equal to Him. Moreover, your knowledge has no
comparison to His knowledge. You use to hide the Truth intentionally. You have
received Holy Books, which testify that the religion Islam is Rightful. The
Prophets Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob (peace be upon Them) were perfect
Believers and the followers of Unity; that is to say; Islam. It has been
written in your Scriptures also that at the end of the era, a Rightful Messenger (Muhammad - glory,
grace, blessings and peace be upon Him) will come. Knowingly you are hiding
this Real and True revelation, and who will be crueler than him who hides the
rightful verse?
We have known from this
verse that hiding the Truth and real facts is the greatest sin in the Court of
Allah Almighty. We should save ourselves from it.
