Reward from Allah

Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

87.  We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur’aan.

88.  Strain not thine eyes (wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them, and lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the Believers.
87.  Wa  laqad  ‘aatay-Naaka  Sab-‘am-minal-masaanii  wal-Qur-‘aanal-‘Aziim.

88.  Laa  tamuddanna  ‘ay-nayka  ‘ilaa  maa  matta’-Naa  bihiii  ‘az-waajam-minhum  wa  laa  tahzan  ‘alayhim  wakhfiz  janaahaka  lil-Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

Masaanii – (the things which are read (recited) again and again). This word is plural of mas-naa, origin of which is sa-na-yaSan-yun means – to repeat. Mas-naa means – that which is doubled. The aim from Saba’-masaanii is (seven verses of) Suratul-Faatihah (First Chapter of Holy Qur’aan), which is recited in prayers again and again and which is the best supplication. It should be recited every time.

Laa  tamuddanna – (Do not strain!), it is an efficacious negative from the word maddMadd means “to view, to strain, to stretch, to expand”. ‘Ay-nayka – (your both eyes). The aim from the words “Laa  tamuddanna  ‘ay-nayka” is “you should not look at”.

‘Az-waajun – (certain classes), it is plural of zawj, which means “a couple”, that is to say, two things; one of which is opposite to the other and those both are a joint of each other.

‘Ikhfiz  janaahaka  – (lower your wing). The word ‘ikhfiz has been derived from khafzun, which means “to cause to bend downward, to bow”. The aim from “lower your wing” is “to behave with softness”.

It is commanded: We have bestowed on you Blessing like “Suratul-Faatihah” (Chapter – The Opening) and the entire Holy Qur’aan. These are the best things for reciting. As soon as you will recite them, you will know that opposite behavior and enmity of the disbelievers is noting. For your help, Omnipotent and Most Powerful Master of the masters exists. After it, there is neither any need for you to suffer due to them, and nor there remains any importance of those worldly transitory goods; which have been given to certain people of them. You should treat them with kind and grace who have believed, and ignore them who are disbelievers. Divine Wrath will seize them naturally.

Commentary

Only two things are seen by the inhabitants of the earth usually:

·         Openness over head, which seems spreading all around.

·         The earth, on which they used to move, sit and sleep.

The sky and the earth, and whatsoever exists in between these both, is called the world and the universe. This entire universe has not come into existence automatically. Its Creator is Allah Almighty. It is not a toy, but He has fixed its all atoms at their proper places by understanding well with His Knowledge and Wisdom. You heard the circumstances of ancient nations that; that nation was removed which adopted the way of rebellion.

You people should listen to the Sayings of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), otherwise you will be determined as rebels and your end will be “destruction” only. On the other side, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been satisfied that “You should deliver Your Message and be patient on violence of the mutinous people; and forgive them on their arrogances with endurance and steadiness. Your Lord has created this universe very thoughtfully and He is Aware of its every particle. At last the rebellious and mischievous people cannot revive here. However they are given respite certainly, but it is sure that the Day of Resurrection shall come. So they will be punished properly on that Day due to their wicked deeds”.

Commentary

‘As-haabul-HIJRI – (the dwellers in Al-Hijr), this is the folk, which is called Thamud. Their story has been mentioned at various places in Holy Qur’aan. Hijr was the name of their township.

Yanhi-tuuna – (they used to hew), origin of this word is na-ha-taNahat means “to hew”. Here it aims “stone-cutting”.

At the North side of Madinah, there was another township, name of which was Hijr. A folk, named Thamud, was dwelling there. Those people used to build stony houses by digging hills and hewing stones with tools into them, which were solid and spacious. Those people were of strong and heavy bodies, and they used to consider slight to all other people before them.

Allah Almighty sent Salih (peace be upon him) appointing him as His Messenger unto them. He (peace be upon him) said: Give up pride and arrogance. Allah Almighty is the Strongest. Fear Him. He is Who has given you these entire good things. Be thankful to Him.

They disobeyed Prophet Salih (peace be upon him). So the doom of earthquake and awful cry was descended upon them. Then their strength and power was of no use and their lasting houses did not save them. You should understand from it that your all plans are useless before Allah Almighty.

79.  Fantaqam-Naa  minhum.  Wa  ‘inna-humaa  labi-‘imaamim-mubiin.

(Section 5)

Commentary

Muta-wassimiin – (those who read, pay attention), it is the subject from the word tawassum, which has come out from wa-sa-maWasam means – a sign, a portent. Tawassum means – to take up with the mind by looking the signs. Nearest words in its meaning are – penetration, sagacity, insight etc.

‘Imaamun – (a high-road plain), Imaam is the person, looking whom, others follow. Here it aims – a way.

In the story of the folk of Lot (peace be upon him), there are many portents for them who want to know. By observing those signs, they can infer that “forgetting own Creator by being entangled in own evil desires and disregarding the teachings of His Messenger (peace be upon him), are reason of God’s displeasure”.

Like this, the end of the folk of Shueib (peace be upon him) reminds us also that the people who violate the Straight Path, are transgressors. And the tyrants are punished properly due to their wicked deeds. The ruins of those both folks’ townships are situated in the way from Hijaz to Syria, which are instructive for the entire mankind.

Quran Chapter 15  72 to 74 (Pt-14, Stg-3) (L-1679) درس قرآن

Unusual anguish

Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِى سَكْرَتِهِمْيَعْمَهُونَ 72

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ٱلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ 73

فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن سِجِّيلٍ 74

72.  By thy life (O Muhammad) they were intoxicated (with lust of power) and were wandering about in their frenzy.

73.  Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise-

74.  And We utterly turned it upside down, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.
72.  La-‘amruka  ‘innahum  lafii  sakrati-him  ya’-mahuun.

73.  Fa-‘akhazat-humus-Sayhatu  mushri-qiin.

74.  Faja-‘alNaa  ‘aali-yahaa  saafilahaa  wa  ‘amtar-Naa  ‘alay-him  hijaaratam-min  sijjiil.

Commentary

La-‘amruka – (by Your life), “La” is preface of oath and “ka”, which is at the end of the word, that means “your”. ‘Amri and ‘umur are the same thing, the duration in which a person remains living. Here it aims “the life”. Here, qasamii is such word which has not been written in the dictation. Complete sentence is “La-‘amruka  qasamii” (Swear of Your life).

Sijjiilun – {stone of (heated clay)}, it means also – over burnt brick or anything dry and hard, pumice.

In this verse, Allah Almighty commands to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) by swearing of his life: Passion of their desires has made them mad. Save the life of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), Allah Almighty has not sworn the life of any other, because oath is taken only of that thing which is most important from the things of the same kind. It is obvious that the dearest life is of the life of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

It is required to be understood that desire of any evil-worker makes him insane and he does neither care for elegant-manners, nor considers the rules and principles anything. Therefore, like any mad dog, there is no form of saving others from its poison but to kill him (evil-doer).

It is commanded: All of a sudden at the time of sunrise, an Awful Cry overtook them. Upside of the entire township was turned down and its surface had gone below in the earth. Stones of heated clay were rained upon them.

67.  And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals).

68.  He said: Lo! They are my guests, so affront me not!

69.  And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not!

70.  They said: Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone?

71.  He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).

71.  Qaala  haaa-‘ulaaa-‘i  banaatiii  ‘in-  kuntum  faa-‘iliin.

Commentary

Laa tafza-huuni – (affront me not!, do not disgrace me), it is a negative sentence from fa-za-haFazah means “to asperse, to vilify, to disgrace”. Actually this word is “laa tafza-huunii”, the last ‘i’ has been dropped due to stopping, which means “me”.

Laa  tukh-zuuni – (shame me not!) it is also a negative sentence from the word ‘ikh-zaaa-‘un, origin of which is kha-za-yaKhiz-yun means “disgrace”. This word has passed in Suratul-Baqarah. ‘Ikh-zaaa-‘un is an active verb from the same i.e. “to bring disgrace or to shame upon”. Here too, the last ‘i’ has been dropped due to stopping, which means “me”.

Lam  nanha – (we have not forbidden).

When the people of the city heard that some guests have come unto Lot (peace be upon him) from abroad and they have very beautiful faces, then they came, rejoicing at this news, so that they may trouble them (the guests) by their evil habits. Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) said to them: They are my guests, so affront me not! Fear Allah Almighty and do not disgrace me!

They said: we have forbidden you that you should not interfere in the matters of our relationship with other people. Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) said: If you are desirous to fulfill your wants, you should do it lawfully. Your wives, who are like my daughters, are at your homes for the same purpose. Why do you involve in the act; which is contrary to the Nature?
