112a.  Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save (where they grasp) a rope from Allah and a rope from men. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them.112a.  Zuribat  ‘alayhimuz-zillatu  ‘ayna  maa  suqifuuu ‘illaa  bi-Hablim-minAllaahi  wa  Hablim-minannaasi  wa  baaa-‘uu  bi  gazabim-minAllaahi  wa zuribat  ‘alay-himul-maskanah.Lesson
Zuribat  – {grievous hurt, is stroke, shall be (their) portion} this Arabic word is also used besides above meanings as “to walk, to affix and to impose.. ”. It has been used for these three meanings in the Holy Qur’aan too. Here it has been used as the last meanings of ‘affixed’ or ‘imposed’ (ignominy upon them).

Introduction of Surah Al-Baqarah was discussed in Lesson # 13, that like every Movement, three kinds of groups were born, when Islam came:
·Believers – who believed that Islam is a true religion.
·Infidels – who denied and opposed Islam.
·Hypocrites – who apparently accepted but in fact, they did not believe in Islam.
Description in respect of Believers and Infidels has been discussed in the first Section. Now the narration about the third group begins.
The word Munaafiq has come out from nafaqa, literal meaning of which is “to mine”, as wild animals make mines under the ground, so that they may be hidden at the time of necessity and run away through secret passages.
