The People of
the Scripture disbelieve in the Revelations of God
Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran

Verses –98 & 99 of 200, Section – 10 of 20, (Part – 4)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

98. Say: O people of the Scripture! Why disbelieve ye in
the Revelations of Allah, when Allah (Himself) is Witness of
what ye do?
99. Say: O people of the Scripture! Why drive ye back
believers from the Way of Allah, seeking to make it crooked, when ye are
witnesses (to Allah’s Guidance)? And Allah is not Unaware of what ye do.

98. ‘Qul yaaa-‘Ahlal-Kitaabi lima
takfuruuna bi-‘Aayaa-TIllaahi wAllaahu Shahiidun
‘alaa maa ta’-maluun.
99. Qul yaaa-‘Ahlal-Kitaabi lima
tasudduuna ‘an- Sabii-LIllaahi man ‘aamana tab-guuna-haa
‘iwajanw-wa ‘antum shuha-daaa’. Wa mAllaahu
bi-gaafi-lin ‘ammaa ta’-maluun.

Lesson
At first, the Jews and the Christians were being addressed.
In the midst, their objections were answered and doubts were cleared. Now they are
being admonished again, “While the paths of good and evil have been described
you openly, the proofs of just and truth have been manifested, true and valid
verses of Holy Qur-’aan have been
caused to hear you, then now what is the problem with you that you have fixed
yourselves to disbelieve in Holy Qur-’aan
and the Holder of this Word of Allah Almighty i.e. His last Messenger (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon him), whereas you are so called the people
of the Scripture”. “Remember it that your entire deeds are being noted by God
Almighty. He knows very well also your intentions and schemes. When He will seize
you, then He will leave you not before finalizing a complete account of your
deeds”.
Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace
be upon him) is being commanded in the second verse of this lesson that He
should ask from the People of the Scripture: Not only you are deprived of
getting the wealth of Belief yourselves, but you wish to drive back the
believers from the Way of God too. Why is it so, that you try to find false and
untrue faults in Islam seeking to make it crooked (to turn the Muslims away
from Islam), when you know that God’s Guidance is the Truth. You commit these
bad acts intentionally and try to falsify the truth after recognition. Allah
Almighty is not Unaware of these wickedness. When the time of reprisal will
come, He will punish you severely.
We have come to know from these verses that the children of
Israel have, willing or unwilling, enmity, malice and obstinacy against Islam.
Holy Qur-’aan has described them
entire facts openly and they have understood it also very well, that the Holy Qur-’aan is really the Word of God
Almighty. But even then, they do not adopt the Straight Path
