The
Immortal Spirit of the Mankind
(Views of some Muslim
Scholars & Mystics)
Muhammad,
The Last Prophet, (Peace Be upon Him) says, “There is a piece of flesh in the
mankind’s body, which is called the Heart”. The Soul is in the heart. The Sirr (The Secret) is in the Soul. The Mystery
(Khafii) is in the Sirr. Concealment (Akhfa) is in the Mystery. The persons who have knowledge; they know
that ego (anaa) is in the
concealment. This ego points towards GOD (ALLAH).
Mawlanaa Roomi (may
GOD have mercy on him) says, sorrow, hundred times sorrow on the mankind, who
has liked that food for himself, which was for his ass. Namely, whose purpose
of life is only eating, drinking and intercourse? He is not better than his
donkey. The person, who thinks always that what is entering into his belly, his
cost is that thing, which is discharged from his belly.
Body
and soul are common among the both, the mankind
and the animal. Soul is also called, the spirit, which causes the life to exist
in the body and seat of whose is “the heart”. But the person is a mankind
because he has a human soul, which is called spiritual soul.
Revelation
of GOD
To earn
is not the real purpose of the mankind. Earning or employment is only for
living. Actual purpose of living is approach unto GOD, to achieve HIS Vicinity
and HIS Revelation. GOD says in HIS Holy Word, Al Qur’an, “wa Maa khalaqtul jinna wal
‘insa ‘illaa li- ya’-buduun” (WE have created jinn and mankind, only for Our
worship). As long the Revelation of GOD is not achieved, till then, we
can’t worship as we have to do.
So the
Saints and the most learned persons of Islam try to achieve the position of
mortality for the sake of GOD through their devotions, attempts and worships,
where devotee is praised with the virtues of GOD. Then soundly he becomes the slave
of GOD. It is the place, where in the phrase of mysticism, is called Eternity (Baqaa) for GOD. Now it is found that the
Eternity is impossible without Mortality (Fanaa)
and the worship is difficult without Eternity. A Muslim becomes actual Believer
at that time, when he acquires self-purification through devotions, Attempts
and worships. That is to say; he empowers his soul to fly towards the sacred
world after purification of his soul from bodily pollutions through getting
relief from selfishness, sensual-ness, love of wealth and property, greediness
and temptation, being praised from love, brotherhood sympathy, faithfulness and
the truth, because the mankind is a collection of muddy body and the soul.
The
soul is a thing of sacred world. It attracts the mankind upward, whereas the Body
is made of mud, which pulls the human being downward. But when, the strength of
sensual wishes becomes less by self-purification, then, the soul brings the
person towards the sacred world easily. Individual is examined by putting him
in the struggle among the body and the soul that whether he goes to the sacred
world or he likes to be drowned in the inferior world. Cause of life of every
person is to be examined that who has a good character, who is lover of beauty,
who is fond of knowledge and wisdom. But in fact, all of them are lovers of
real beloved ‘GOD’. It is the intention of Islam that all the people are
brought towards the right & straight path.
Reality of the Soul
“QUL-LIR-RUUHU MIN ‘AMRI RABBI” (AL
QUR’AN)
‘Say, the soul is from the Order
of GOD. You are given a
little knowledge about it’. It doesn’t mean that the knowledge of the
Holy Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is a little.
It means that the knowledge about the soul is so vast that although You (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) are given much knowledge about the soul,
but even then, Your (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) knowledge
about soul is very less in comparison to the Knowledge of GOD. Because on this
topic, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon
Him) guides us in His (peace be upon Him) Holy Sayings (‘Ahaadith). From these Sayings we have come to know that His (grace,
glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) knowledge about the soul was much vast.
Some of Holy Sayings are appended below:-

The Skies and the Earth have not too much space that GOD may be contained
in to them. But at the other hand, HE may be contained in the heart of HIS
worshippers.
·
The Heart of the worshipper is Abode of ALLAH.
·
Frighten from the wisdom (spiritual vision) of a Believer because
he sees with the Vision of GOD.
·
GOD commands us, “whenever my worshipper desires to acquire my Proximity
through prayers, I love him. I come so near of him that he looks with MY eyes,
listens to with MY ears and works with MY Hands.
·
GOD is the Light (Noor) and Soul of the skies and the earth.
It has
been proved by science now that the soul is running in all things of the
universe, like beasts, vegetation, fossils and minerals etc.
