Lesson – 26

 The Hypocrites

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)
Stage – 1, Verse – 7 of 286, Section – 1 of 40 (Part - 1)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

Introduction of Surah Al-Baqarah was discussed in Lesson # 13, that like every Movement, three kinds of groups were born, when Islam came:

·       Believers – who believed that Islam is a true religion.

·       Infidels – who denied and opposed Islam.

·       Hypocrites – who apparently accepted but in fact, they did not believe in Islam.

Description in respect of Believers and Infidels has been discussed in the first Section. Now the narration about the third group begins.

The word Munaafiq has come out from nafaqa, literal meaning of which is “to mine”, as wild animals make mines under the ground, so that they may be hidden at the time of necessity and run away through secret passages. In this sense, the Hypocrites are those unlucky people, who accept Islam apparently, but opposite to the Muslims, they behave deceitfully and secretly, and for the enmity; they wait.

When Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) immigrated from Makkah and reached Madinah, at that time, the people of Madinah were getting ready to choose a person ofBanu Khazraj Tribe, named Abdullah bin Ubaii bin Salol, as their chieftain of the city. He was very wicked and a manipulative man. On arrival of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), the matter of his coronation was indefinitely deferred. Every individual of Madinah began to look at the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

When Abullah observed this condition, he remained silent. He considered the wisdom in it that he should not rise his voice against Islam and the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Therefore, he announced that he has embraced Islam along with his companions. But internally, they remained in waiting that whenever, in future; they would get any chance, they would give up Islam; and get up against the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

As the time went by, the influence of Islam expanded; and jealousy increased in the hearts of such people. The fire of enmity exceeded in their hearts. Therefore, whenever they availed, they opposed Islam and deceived the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). This proved that they were domestic enemies in the guise of friends. Notwithstanding; following the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the congregational prayers, they opposed Islam always, whenever got any opportunity, and withdrew through pride from the Muslims having ideas of their own. In this connection; there is a famous incident named “Masjid Zaraar”, which was demolished. They left company of Muslims in the Battle of ‘Uhud, when both Armies were face to face. In the second Section, habits and qualities of the Hypocrites have been described. God Almighty save all of us from these entire kinds of badness and bless with perfect Belief.

Even today, the biggest danger to Islam is from the Hypocrites. That is to say; those people who say themselves Muslims, read Kalimah of Islam, name themselves as of Muslims and live with them. But in fact, their hearts have infidelity and sympathy with the disbelievers against the Muslims.

The Good People

Lesson # 405

The Good People

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 110a of 200, Section – 12 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

110a.  Ye are the best community that hath been raised up for mankind, ye enjoin right conduct and forbid the wrong; and ye believe in Allah.
110a.  kuntum  khayra ‘ummatin  ‘ukhrijat linnaasi  ta’-muruuna  bil-ma’-ruufi  wa  tan-hawna ‘anil-munkari  wa  tu’-minuuna  BIllaah.

Lesson

In the beginning of previous section it was commanded that “Yaaa-‘ayyuhal-laziina  ‘aa-manut-taqUllaaha  haqqa  tuqaa-tihii”   (O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance). Some such matters were explained during the description, about which God Almighty has commanded to perform them. Moreover, some such matters were described which were forbidden by Him. Then reward for the righteous people and the punishment for the sinners was narrated. Again, the subject is being turned towards the beginning. That is to say; “O Muslims! Allah Almighty has declared you as the best Nation from the entire people of the world. It had been destined in His knowledge that you would get excellence over all other communities. Moreover, this news had been delivered to the former Prophets (peace be upon them).

As the Last Prophet, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the most distinguished of all Prophets (peace be upon them), likewise his (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) Nation is also the most distinguished and superior of all the other communities and nations. Because this nation has been bestowed with the noblest Messenger ((grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), the most comprehensive and perfect religious law, and the doors of Knowledge and Science have been opened for it.

khayra ‘ummatin –  (best community), the Muslim Nation was given the title of khayra ‘ummatin  too besides the Moderate Nation, the Community of Abraham and several other honorable  titles.

ukhrijat linnaasi – (raised up for mankind), it means that this community will bring the entire nations of the world at the door of Belief by preaching and inviting the people. It will forbid the wrong deeds. This Muslim nation will prevent the people from bad deeds by their tongue, the hand, the pen and by the sword. Every kind of strife and struggle, and a Muhammadan religious war (Jihad) has been prescribed on it.

One more characteristic of this best nation has been described here that it believes in Allah Almighty. All good qualities, which are found in the Muslim nation with the correct management, those did not exist in any previous nation. The Companion Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “whosoever of you wants to join this nation (the best of nations), he should fulfill its all terms and conditions, it means ‘Amr  bil-ma’-ruufi, (enjoining the right conduct) and Nahii  ‘anil-munkar, (to forbid the wrong), and Believe in Allah. It can happen so, at such time, when every person will dress himself first because he cannot correct others without dressing itself.

There is no doubt in the Truth of Quran

Lesson # 404

There is no doubt in the Truth of Quran

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verses – 108 & 109 of 200, Section – 11 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

108.  There are Revelations of Allah, We recite them unto thee in truth. And Allah willeth no injustice to (His) creatures.

109.  Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in heavens and whasoever is in the earth. And unto Allah all things are returned.
108.  Tilka  ‘Aayaa-tUllaahi  nat-luuhaa  ‘alayka  bil-Haqq.  Wa mAllaahu  yuriidu  zul- mal-lil-‘aalamiin.

  109.   Wa  LIllaahi  maa fis-samaa-waati  wa  maa  fil-‘arz.  Wa  ‘ilAllaahi  turja-‘ul-‘umuur.

Lesson

After describing good qualities and their results in the Muslims and bad qualities and their results in the Infidels separately, now it is being warned strictly by God Almighty: “You must not consider these entire Words (of Holy Qur’-aan) as a lie. These are absolutely true and right commands, which We cause to hear you by means of Our Messenger” (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Allah Almighty does not desire to tyrannize His creatures in any form. The meanings of the tyranny should not be taken here as we use them in common because Allah Almighty does not do as we do in this world. According to our whim, there may be four kinds of tyranny:

·         That; God Almighty send such severe commands for the people, purpose of which is to molest them only.

·         That the person, who deserves His Mercy, is punished.

·         That, the person, who committed a little sin, is punished more severely.

·         That, the person performed goodness, but he is not remunerated properly according to goodness.

Allah Almighty will never tyrannize His creature in accordance with above four kinds, because His every Order is only for the training of the human beings and His every matter is suitable exactly according to His larger plan and wisdom.

The earth, the skies and the entire existing of the world are in His hand. Therefore, there is no question regarding tyrannizing and injustice. God Almighty is the Creator of the entire creatures. He fulfills their requirements. Their life, death, Prosperity, misery, pain and pleasure depend on Him only.  Indeed, there are so many kinds of torments and disasters, which the human beings have to meet with. He has to face many difficulties, calamities and misfortunes, and he has to go also through many trials. At that time, he considers that he has been suffering the great calamities. He begins to curse his fate.

It is the fact that Allah Almighty does not tyrannize any humankind. A human being should keep the forbearance and be settled on the virtue. He should remain steadfast on the right path and supplicate from Him always that his feet should not tremble.

Fortunate people with whitened faces in the Hereafter

Lesson # 403

Fortunate people with whitened faces in the Hereafter

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 107 of 200, Section – 11 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

107.  And as for those whose faces have been whitened, lo! in the Mercy of Allah they dwell for ever.
107.  Wa   ‘ammal-laziinab-yaz-zat   wujuuhuhum   fafii   rahma-TIllaah.  Hum   fiihaa   khaaliduun.

Lesson

After describing the result of infidels and deniers in the previous verse, now the condition of those people is being explained, whose faces will be whitened with the Light of Belief and Piety on the Day of Resurrection.  Allah Almighty will let them entered in His Mercy and provide them place in the House of pleasure and comfort.

The real truth of any matter becomes conspicuous by comparing. Therefore, value of the righteousness appears when vicious results of badness would have been cleared. Moreover, the value of the whiteness increases when taken a look at the blackness. Hence, these two types of verses accompany. In the former verse, it has been described that the people, who either didn’t embrace Islam even after listening to the invitation of the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) and the Holy Qur-’aan, or they just admitted the Truth by tongue before the Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him), but heartily they remained infidels and in spite of believing in the good news of earlier Scripture, they had been falsifying the Prophet of Islam (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him). God Almighty will punish them severely.

Now it has been described about those people, who accepted Islam by their true nature. They believed in God Almighty, admitted the Prophet Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) as a true and the last Messenger, put the teachings of Holy Qur’aan and the sayings of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) into their practice. Allah Almighty will bring them to the Garden. Every kind of Blessings exists there. They will live there for endless period comfortably. They will never be destroyed there.

God Almighty compares between the Believer and the Infidel, the Heaven and the Hell, so that the sensible people would have to learn from it and become eligible for the Heaven in the Hereafter by passing good-working life in this world. Nevertheless, commonly the human being tries to collect the worldly benefits because he has no more belief in Allah Almighty and the Day of Judgment. Perhaps he considers that these things have no reality. Otherwise, it can never be possible that even after such palpable and clear explanation, any person goes towards the badness in spite of the goodness, does not think the lie as a lie and sin as a sin, and remains engaged in plundering and ravaging unlawfully, and be present in the Court of Allah Almighty after becoming disgraced. May Allah Almighty save us from the disgrace, bestow us success in the world and the Hereafter, even if we face some difficulties and sufferings in the world, give us courage to bear with them, so that the permanent and endless life of the Hereafter would not effect.

They will taste severe punishment who disbelieved

Lesson # 402

They will taste severe punishment who disbelieved

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 106 of 200, Section – 11 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

106.  On the Day when (some) faces will be whitened and (some) faces will be blackened; and as for those whose faces have been blackened, it will be said unto them: Disbelieved ye after your (profession of) belief? Then taste the punishment for that ye disbelieved.
106.  Yawma  tab-yazzu  wujuu-hunw-wa  taswaddu  wujuuh,  fa-‘ammallazii-naswaddat  wu-juu-huhum  ‘akafartum-  ba’-da  ‘iimaanikum  fazuuqul-‘azaaba  bimaa  kuntum  takfuruun.

Lesson

It has been described earlier that the deeds of human being are not wasted. Their appearance remains permanent. Those are reckoned by God Almighty. The faces of the people will disclose their deeds on the Day of Judgment. The persons who would have passed their lives with good deeds, the Light of Belief and God fearing will be shining on their faces. Their faces will become white. They will be in much respect and dignity, and seen very pleasure. Contrary to them, those people who remained involved in evils, errors and sins throughout their lives in this world, led in evil-working and black deeds, at that time, their faces will become black with blackness of their infidelity, immorality, adulteration and hypocrisy. As though, the face of every person will become mirror of his/her inside.

Allah Almighty will ask every disbeliever, Hypocrite and Renegade, “Did you adopt Infidelity after believing? Why did you choose infidelity in spite of Faith”? Those people would not have any answer to this question. Their heads will bow down due to shame and repentance. They will fall in the abyss of disgrace and infamy, and they will be caused to hear the command of punishment. In retaliation of their infidelity, they will fall in the severe wrath and enter into the Fire of Hell, where they will remain and rot forever.

It is the condition of the Hereafter, where every human being would have to clear the accounts of his/her entire life of this world, where he/she will get permanent either reward or punishment. But every individual would have to face the results of his/her deeds, which were performed or committed in this world too. Moreover, their faces would be mirrors of their lives. If any person commits evil, then the evils begin to show themselves on his/her face. The tokens of humiliation and bashfulness appear. On the contrary, as the result of  goodness, one gets fame and glory. The people calling out aloud say, “he/she is of the Paradise, the Light rains on his/her face, the illumination glitters from one’s eyes”. His/her forehead becomes glorious.

An awful doom for those who separated and disputed after receiving clear proofs

Lesson # 401

An awful doom for those who separated and disputed after receiving clear proofs

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 105 of 200, Section – 11 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

105.  And be ye not as those who separated and disputed after the clear proofs had come unto them. And for such there is an awful doom-
105.  Wa  laa  takuunuu  kalla-ziina tafarraquu  wakhtalafuu  mim- ba’-di  maa  jaaa-‘ahumul-Bayyi-naat.  Wa  ‘ulaaa-‘ika  lahum  ‘azaabun  ‘aziim,

Lesson

Importance of the existence and establishment of a group had been cleared in the previous verse. Who would have to perform the duties of Da’-wah ‘ilal-khayr (invitation towards the goodness), ‘Amr  bil-ma’-ruufi  (enjoining the right conduct) and Nahii  ‘anil-munkar (to forbid the wrong), except the Muslims, from the evil and rebellion of the Infidels and the obstinate. It is the duty of true and sincere Muslim to join this group. Now it is commanded that ‘you must not be like those people who put the separation among themselves and divided into sects of the religion, whereas, they had known the fact.

The people, who separated and put the Ummah in different divisions of the sects of the religion, were the Jews and the Christians, who had received clear and unambiguous commandments of God Almighty. Nevertheless, they put the differences in the principles of Islamic law just by following the superstitions and greed, which resulted that they were ruined and the torment of Allah descended upon them.

This verse proved that due to separation in the religion, how much horrible and terrible results appear, while Allah Almighty illuminates the path of the truth and righteousness clearly. Certain evil-natured and insurrected people disrupt in the religion due to following their sensual desires; worship of the wealth and the greed. Likewise, it weakens the collective strength, teachings of the religion cannot spread, every sect conspires to finish the other among themselves and resultant their freedom and national existence wipes out from the face of the earth nationally and religiously.

Entire destructive results of the separation are before us but Alas! Today the Muslims have also been divided into many sects. They are collecting destructive provision for themselves by separating from the clear and unambiguous principles of Islamic law. Thanks Allah Almighty that despite this Vandalism, there are some such groups in the Muslims which consist of the pious and the sincere people, who are performing the duties of ‘Amr  bil-ma’-ruufi  (enjoining the right conduct) and Nahii  ‘anil-munkar (to forbid the wrong). May God Almighty give more strength to these groups and make us able to join them and to do good deeds.

For being successful, enjoin right conduct and forbid the wrong

Lesson # 400

For being successful, enjoin right conduct and forbid the wrong

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 104 of 200, Section – 11 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

104.  And there may spring from you a nation who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid the wrong. And such are they who are successful.
104.  Wal-takum-minkum  ‘Umma-tuny-yad-‘uuna  ‘ilal-khayri  wa  ya’-muruuna  bil-ma’-ruufi  wa  yanhawna  ‘anil-munkar.  Wa ‘ulaaa-‘ika  humul-mufli-huun.

Lesson

It has been described by God Almighty in this verse that abstinence, alliance and concordance in national life, Islamic brother-hood and other common excellence may remain till then, until a group from the Muslims stand firm for inviting and delivering the message of Islam to non-believers. They would have to call the world towards the Holy Qur-’aan and the Sayings and Practices of Last Prophet; Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) with their words and deeds. And when they feel that the people are disregarding the goodness and have involved in the badness, then they should cause to draw their attention towards the virtue, enjoin the right conduct and forbid them from the evil.

It is clear that this work can be done only by those people who may distinguish between good and bad, aware perfectly of the teachings of Holy Qur-’aan and they should also be able to look for the opportunity. Otherwise, it is also possible that either an uncivilized/ignorant person will create more infringement instead of correction by supposing the goodness as badness and the badness as goodness, or he may adopt any such method, which may cause to increase their infidelity.

Existence of such group has remained in every time and period, which has been trying its best to invite the people to goodness, enjoin the right conduct and forbid them from belief in a plurality of Allah Almighty, idolatry, infidelity, irreligious and worship of superstition. Islam has been spreading only due to their efforts, while the depravity, opposition, mischief and brawl are spreading commonly. Essentially, this type of group should be supported, more and more people should be connected with it. They should perform following three duties bringing their full possible means in function with complete exertion and earnestness:

·         Da’-wah ‘ilal-khayri -  (invitation towards the goodness), by delivering the Message of Islam to unbelievers.

·         ‘Amr  bil-Ma’-ruufi  - (enjoining the right conduct), to spread the goodness imperatively, put the common people on the Path of goodness.

·         Nahii  ‘anil-munkar  - (to forbid the wrong), to stop the badness and evils from the nation and the state with an explicit command.

As though, it is the duty of the chastiser group to invite the people towards goodness, enjoin the right conduct and forbid the wrong with full strength and power practically.
