Commentary

It is being narrated in these verses that none is worthy of worship save Allah Almighty. And it has been mentioned in Hadith {Saying of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)} that marrow of worship is “calling”. Therefore, which it has been described in the first part of this verse; that “call not, beside Allah, unto that which cannot profit thee nor hurt thee”, it aims that if you called someone else, that would be as though, you worship him; whom you called. Worship of any other beside Allah Almighty is “belief in a plurality of God Almighty”.

While it is fact that causing to die and bringing to life is work of Allah Almighty, no any other person can bring anything into being and nor can cause to die save Him, and moreover, Master of profit and loss is also He. If any other individual causes to profit or hurt, that is also by His (God’s) Command. If He does not desire; then none can profit someone nor hurt. If we meditate in these words; we shall find that correct human sense cannot permit to prostrate before any other except Him, and considering that he (any other) is supplier of one’s wants has been prohibited clearly in the first portion of this verse (106a).

In this portion of the verse, it is commanded and by addressing the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), it is being caused to understand the entire human beings that “after understanding this fact, calling someone else is tyranny, and whoso commits so; will be counted in the wrongdoers. Meanings of tyranny and violence have passed at many places. Choosing any wrong way and leaving the correct path is violence, and it has innumerable forms. In every form; it would be found that by giving up decision of correct human sense, one has adopted the way of fulfilling own sensual wishes, for example; decision of correct sense is that Allah Almighty is Omnipotent and He has been describing: Call not any other beside Allah for help, in spite of this, if any person violates this decision, that would be tyranny, and it would be meant that he followed own wishes by ignoring the decision of sense.
