Commentary
Tash-khasu – (will
gaze), it aims that on the Day of Resurrection, the eyes of the wicked people
will stare, which will not be able to be closed.
Muhti-‘iina –
(their running condition), it is the plural subject from the word ‘ah-taa-‘un,
which has been derived from ha-ta-‘a. Ha-ta-‘a means
“running fast”. ‘Ah-taa-‘un means “running fast in terror”.
Muqni-‘ii –
(upraised), actually this word is muqni-‘iin. However, due to
annexing, the last “n” has been removed. It has come out from qana-‘a. qanuu’ means
“to rise up”. ‘Iqnaa’ means “to raise up”.
It is commanded that the
disbelievers of Allah Almighty should consider thoughtfully that they have been
given a respite in the world, so that they should know their Lord and turn
towards Him. Their condition, on the Day of Resurrection, will be such that
they will come hurrying on in fear. Their heads will be upraised. Their eyes
will remain staring continuously, which will not be able to be closed or turned
to down, right or left. Their hearts will be uneasy with terror.
