who were despised will say unto those who were scornful: We were unto a
following, can ye then avert from us aught of Allah’s Doom? They will say:
Had Allah guided us, we would have guided you. Whether we show anxiety or
patiently endure is (now) all one for us; we have no place of refuge.

Commentary
It has been commanded in this
verse that the people who did not believe in Allah Almighty, they will suffer
from severe doom. Even that; being agitated by the sternness of the doom, those
people who were of lower class, weak and followers of the people of higher
class, respectable for them in the world, will say: We obeyed your commandments
and followed you during worldly life. We were your servants. Therefore, you
should help us at this time of affliction. Behold! How much we have been
suffering. If not more, then please cause to lessen our doom a little.
They will say: Alas! Being
entangled in the worldly matters, we were careless from Allah Almighty. He
shortened our internal Light and deprived us of the Guidance. So we went astray
and caused to run you also astray. Today, we are more in misfortune than you.
Neither screaming is useful and nor being silent. There is no way of
deliverance visible in any form.
