(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
22b. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot
help you, nor can ye help me. Lo! I deny your having associated me (with
Allah) before. Lo! For wrongdoers is a painful doom.

Commentary
Musri-khu –
(those who cry due to calamity). It is a subject from the word saraakh,
origin of which is sarakha. Sarakha means
“screaming and crying for help, which is due to pain and grief. ‘Asraakh means
“to help in distress by which crying and screaming is stopped”.
‘Ashrak-tumuuni – actually this word is ‘ashrak-tumuunii, last “i” of which has been removed for the purpose of reduction in dictation. It means “you had associated me (with Allah)”.
Satan will say: What will you
get from me? Go away and weep on your deeds. Enjoy punishment of your tricks.
Behold! Neither I can help you today and nor you can help me. In the world, you
had associated me with Allah Almighty, whereas I am not able to boast before
That Omnipotent and the Greatest. I announce my grievous hate from your absurd
works. I disobeyed the commandment of God Almighty, so have been seized in its
recompense Today (on the Doomsday). You obeyed my saying unnecessarily and put
behind your back; the clear commandments of Allah Almighty. You have also been
arrested today in the same crime. We both did wrong with ourselves. Today, we
can see clearly that the doom is ready for the wrongdoers. Would that we had
understood it in the world, then we would have been in peace today.
From this verse, those people
should learn who have been entangled in such works, which have been declared in
Holy Qur’aan as devilish works, for instance; telling a lie,
deceiving etc.
