Repentance and remorse -1

 Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

2.  It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims.

3.  Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them; soon they will come to know!

4.  And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it.

5.  No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind.
2.  RUBAMAA  YA-WAD-DUL-LAZIINA  kafaruu  law  kaanuu  Musli-miin.

3.  Zar-hum  ya’-kuluu  wa  yata-matta-‘uu  wa  yulhi-himul-‘amalu  fa-sawfa  ya’-lamuun.

4.  Wa  maaa  ‘ahlak-Naa  min  qar-yatin  ‘illaa  wa  lahaa  kitaa-bum- ma’-luum.

5.  Maa  tasbiqu  min  ‘ummatin  ‘Ajalahaa  wa  maa  yasta’-khiruun.

Commentary

RUBAMAA – (it may be, mostly, often, frequently), the word Rubba in Arabic language, manifests usually the repetition of any work or being of the work sometimes, or being surplus/coming short of any thing’s quantity. When the verb is used after it, then the word maa is added at its end. At that time, it can be read “Rubba-mmaa” and “Ruba-maa” (in both forms).

Yulhi-him – (it beguile them), the word yulhi is actually yulhii. Due to its use as a reply to a command, the last “i” has been reduced. The word “hum” is “third person plural”, that is to say “them”. The origin of the word Yulhii is ‘ilhaa-‘un, which has been derived from lah-wunLah-wun means play, sport, pastime and amusement etc. ‘Ilhaa-‘un means “to be busy in games, to amuse one’s self, to make inattentive, to keep ignorant”.

It is commanded that they are not using their sense at this time. Many such occasions will come in future when they will grieve due to embracing not Islam. Therefore, when they were defeated and the Muslims conquered, then they bewailed very much in the world, and on the Day of Resurrection, there will be nothing for them unfortunately save grief and remorse.

Quran Chapter 15  1 (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1652) - درس قرآن

The Scripture and Luminous Qur-‘an

Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٍ مُّبِينٍ (1

1.  Alif. Laam. Raa. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading (Luminous Qur-‘aan).
1.  ‘Alif-Laaam-Raa.  Tilka  ‘Aayaatul-Kitaabi  wa  Qur-’aa-nim-Mubiin.

Commentary

Kitaab and Qur-‘aan – (The Scripture and Reading), these both words have passed earlier. The origin of Kitaab is kataba, which means “to write and pair in literary style”. The origin of the word Qur-‘aan is “qar-‘un”, which means “to add up”. Qur-‘aan is a collection of words and composition for reciting.

Mubiin means luminous, clear, manifest and evident, that is to say, nothing is complicated in it. It can be read easily. The word ‘Al with the word Kitaab, and tanviin {doubling the short vowels at the end of Arabic word, which is called shadd (stress) also e.g. zam-nan, takh-mii-nan etc.} on the word Qur-‘aan, both are for exposing their magnificence and unequalled-ness. That is to say, there is no Book in the world; written with such order and arrangement, and like this, for readers; more easy and clear mode of expression than it, does not exist in any book of the world. Holy Qur-’aan was revealed in the world by degrees, according to situations. But in fact, those were verses of a Written Arranged Scripture.

In the Lawh Mahfuz (a Table on which the destinies of the world since its creation are written) this Holy Word did exist in written form duly organized and arranged properly, but at the time of its descending, sometimes any verse and sometimes any Chapter of it, used to reveal. And as soon as it used to reveal, the people used to begin reciting it. Therefore, when it was being revealed, at that time it was only in the form of Qur-‘aan. And after descending the entire, it was composed as it was written in the Tablet of the Safe (Lawh Mahfuz). So it became a Scripture. Now it is a Scripture too as well as Qur-aan. Now it is recited according to that order in which it is written.

In the beginning of maximum Chapters, it is caused to remember at first that these verses, which you have been reciting, are not conjectural compositions. But these are verses of a complete, collective, compiled and organized Scripture, which are being revealed step by step. When these all will be revealed, then will be written in the form of a Book, and its fluency of speech, rhetoric, elegance of narration and capability of guidance will astonish the readers with wonder.

Therefore you should not put off these verses considering them ordinary and disjoined dictation, but you should hear them carefully and try to understand the meanings of life from their fluency of speech and elegance of narration.

Introduction of Suratul-Hijr - Quran Chapter 15 – Intro (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1651) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 15  Intro (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1651) - درس قرآن

Introduction of Suratul-Hijr

Surah ‘Al-Hijr - (The Rocky Tract) - 15

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

According to configuration, this is fifteenth Chapter of Holy Qur’aan. It was revealed in Makkah. It was named as ‘Al-Hijr (The Rocky Tract), at the name of a township in Qura valley, which is situated on the road from Madinah to Syria. Mention of the inhabitants of ‘Al-Hijr Township is in the beginning of the last Section of this Chapter. In ancient times, Folk Thamud had been settled here. During 9th AH, when Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) passed through this place along with the Muslim Army, He said: Pass quickly from here; it is the place where God’s torment was descended on the disobedient people.

About life and death of the mankind has been caused to remember them in this Surah also like other Chapters revealed in Makkah. And it has been admonished that one should give ear to the life of this world, as much as it is necessary for stability of the life, and maximum spare time should be spent in reciting Holy Qur’aan thoughtfully, remembrance of Allah Almighty and meditation.

After describing about the condition of mankind’s creation, attention has been drawn that an enemy has been produced along with the human being who has undertaken responsibility of misleading and destroying them in each condition. The people should be careful from him. Those people who will go astray by his deception, their abode will be the Hell after death, which is the worst place for living. But those, who adopted the path of piety and God-fearing; turning away from Satan, Paradise is for them, where they will dwell comfortably and in peace. They will live there happily, altogether, mutually.

Then after causing to hear the circumstances of God’s obedient and good people, it has been excited that they should adopt the behavior like them. And they have been advised after stating the stories of disobedient people, which are like a warning for all, so that their end should not as of them.

After that, there is mention about favors of Allah Almighty, Who appointed Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) as His last Messenger and revealed upon Him Holy Qur’aan, so that by acting upon its commandments, He may establish the Straight Path for the entire mankind.

The End of the Chapter - Quran Chapter 14 – the End (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1650) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 14  the End (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1650) - درس قرآن

The End of the Chapter

Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

Lessons from Surah ‘Ibrahiim (Chapter – 14) were over on the last lesson. Reason of sending Holy Qur’aan has been described to the remarkable people of Makkah in this small Chapter, and about such work; it has been informed to the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him); for which Allah Almighty has appointed Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

Efforts to fulfill duties and lives in respect of Messengers Abraham and Moses (peace be upon them) have been discussed in this Surah. It has been explained in it that it was duty of every Messenger (peace be upon him) that He should cause to understand the Laws of Allah Almighty to the people of His folk and teach them the way of dwelling in the world, which Allah Almighty has fixed for the mankind.

Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has been sent at the last of all Prophets (peace be upon them) for the entire human beings of the world. It has been mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan that the people of ancient folks did not recognize their Prophets (peace be upon them). However if they knew some of them, they disobeyed them (peace be upon them). The result was that punishment of their disobedience was given to them in the world and they earned the doom of the Day of Resurrection, retaliation of their wicked deeds.

Allah Almighty helped His Prophets (peace be upon them) and their Believers in the world at the time of their troubles; and ruined their enemies. It is a warning from the circumstances of those people for the entire human beings. Otherwise on the Day of Resurrection, those people will not be of use, to whom they follow today, and for the cause of whom; they have thrown the Commandments of Allah Almighty and Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) behind their back. Satan himself, who is the great guide of the entire stray people, will give a point blank refusal to his devoted people and go away.

You should follow the behavior of your Ancestor Messenger Abraham (peace be upon him), who constructed Ka’-bah (the Square Building – the House of Allah) for your betterment and prayed for you good supplications from Allah Almighty. Today, for completion of the same Religion, Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has come in the world. If you did not follow Him then after death, you will be entangled in such terrible misfortunes, by thinking about which, the end of the hairs stand.

O Wrongdoers! Try to understand

 Surah ‘Ibraahiim (Abraham) - 14

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

50.  Their raiment shall be of pitch, and the Fire shall be covering their faces-

51.  That Allah may repay each soul what it hath earned. Lo! Allah is Swift at Reckoning.

52.  This is a clear Message for mankind in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is only One God, and that men of understanding may take heed.
50.  Saraa-biiluhum-min  qati-raaninw-wa  tag-shaa  wujuuha-humun-Naar.

51.  Li-yajzi-yAllaahu  kulla  nafsim-maa  kasabat.  ‘In-nAllaaha  Sarii-‘ul-Hisaab.

Commentary

Qati-raani – (pitch, black oil), it is name of a black tenacious substance obtained from boiling down tar or turpentine; which catches the fire immediately and which probably comes out from a mine of brimstone, or resin from pine or fire-tree.

Balaa-gun – (delivery of a Message), this word has passed earlier.

Which raiment will be worn by the disobedient people, those will be draggled with the pitch (which catches the fire without delay). In the cover of fire, their faces and entire bodies will burn with flame, so that every wrongdoer should enjoy the result of own deeds completely.

This Holy Qur’aan has been sent to deliver the same Message to the human beings, so that the Law of Allah Almighty should be obvious clearly upon the deserving people, and by meditating in the verses of Holy Qur’aan, they should regard as true that only Allah Almighty is Able to be Worshipped, Who is Single in Himself and His Epithets. Only those people will reap advantage from It who are desirous to take work from their sense (given by Allah Almighty) correctly.

47.  So think not that Allah will fail to keep His Promise to His Messengers. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong).

48.  On the Day when the earth will be changed to other than this earth, and the heavens (also will be changed) and they will come forth unto Allah, the One, the Almighty.

49.  Wa  taral-Mujri-miina  Yaw-ma-‘izim-muqar-raniina  fil-‘as-faad.

Commentary

Muqar-raniina – (linked together), it is a tense of the Passive Participle from the word taqriina, which has been derived from qaranQaran means “to be joined with one another”. Taqriina means “to tighten identical things strongly by linking together”.

Fil-‘as-faad – (in chains), ‘as-faad is plural of safad, it aims – chains, handcuffs and iron fastened to the legs of criminals.

It is commanded: O mankind! You should never think that Allah Almighty will not fulfill His Promises which He made with all of you, care of His Messengers (peace be upon them). That Day is coming soon when this earth and skies will be finished and changed with others. At that time, the people will be seen in such condition that, according to their thoughts, their groups will be separated, which will be tightened identically strongly by linking them together in chains, handcuffs and iron fastened to their legs.

Commentary

It will be commanded on the Day of Resurrection: While you had all facilities to work in the world and you were informed properly that you should consider this opportunity (of life) sufficient, and produce a habit in yourselves to obey the commandments of Allah Almighty and follow the Sayings of Messengers (peace be upon them). The time was available for you to reflect in the circumstances of ancient people and take a warning from them. You were well aware that how severely We (God Almighty) punished them due to their evil deeds. Moreover, We had stated their condition before you in detail. They had devised big plans to complete them but in vain before Allah Almighty. Weak plots of an ignorant mankind cannot be as; whereby the mountains should be moved.

Commentary

Mankind becomes proud on his bodily health, physical strength and wealth, and instead of keeping his wishes in control, he considers that collecting goods for fulfilling own  desires is the best hobby. But his Creator and Lord Almighty fixes it a devilish temptation and says to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him): Warn these people and say to them: If you are entangled continuously in the same ridiculous thoughts, then on one or other day misfortune will surround you. At that time you will cry out helplessly that “Our Lord! Indeed we were deceived. Reprieve us for a little while. We promise that we shall obey Your commandments and follow Your Messengers (peace be upon them) wholeheartedly in future”.

Then it will be commanded: you have been reprieved very much. But you were so much lustful in worldly merriments that you forgot your death. Whenever you spoke, you said: No one can snatch this prosperity from us. Who can defeat us?
