Quran Chapter 17  31 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1311) - درس قرآن

Know your Lord

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

31.  Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Who provideth for you from the sky and the earth, or Who owneth hearing and sight; and Who bringeth forth the living from the dead and bringeth forth the dead from the living; and Who directeth the course? Then they will say: Allah. Then say: Will ye not then keep your duty (unto Him)?
31.  Qul  manyyar-zuqukum-minas-samaaa-‘i   wal-‘arzi  ‘am-manyyam-likus-sam-‘a  wal-‘ab-saara  wa  manyyukh-rijul-hay-ya  minal-may-yiti  wa  yukh-rijul-may-yita  minal-hayyi  wa  manyyu-dabbirul-‘amr.  Fasa-ya-quuluu-nAllaah.  Faqul  ‘afalaa  tatta-quun.

Commentary

‘Am-man – (or who is?), in which form this word has been written in the Holy Qur’an, in such form, there is a doubt that it is one word, but in fact, these are two separate words – “‘am” and “man”. ‘Am means “or” and man means “who”. But, when these are spoken then “m” of first word is amalgamated in the second. Then it is compounded in writing also. The universe and the occurrences of the sky and the earth have been mentioned at various places in Holy Qur’aan, and in which verses these have been stated, those verses have been ended usually on these words. ‘Afalaa  ta’-qiluun (Do you not have sense), ‘Afalaa  tas-ma-‘uun (Do you not have hearing), ‘Afalaa  tub-siruun (Do you not see).

It appears that actual work of the sense, ear, eye and knowledge of the human being is only that “he should conclude from everything of the universe, all incidents and accidents of surroundings that; Creator, Preserver and Organizer of these all things is only one Allah Almighty”. Neither has He any partner, nor supporter and nor companion. If; by studying the universe, the mankind does not reach such consequence, then his entire physical development and material progress is useless. According to Holy Qur’aan he is ignorant.
