Against the Facts - Quran Chapter 13 – 33b (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1595) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 13  33b (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1595) - درس قرآن

Against the Facts

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

33b.  Is it that ye would inform Him of something which He knoweth not in the earth? Or is it but a way of speaking? Nay but their contrivance is made seeming fair for those who disbelieve and they are kept from the Right Path.
33b.  ‘Am  tunabbi-‘uunaHuu  bimaa  laa  ya’-lamu  fil-‘arzi  ‘am  bizaa-hirim-minal-qawl.  Bal  zuyyi-na  lilla-ziina  kafaruu  mak-ruhum  wa  sudduu  ‘anis-Sabiil.

Commentary

Tunabbi-‘uuna-Huu – (you would inform Him), this word is from tam-bi-‘atun, origin of which is nabaa’Nabaa’ means “the News”. Many such words have passed; origin of which was the same. Here, the aim from the word tunabbi-‘uuna is that “you inform, you give the news”.

Sudduu – (were prevented), it is past passive voice from the word saddunSaddun means “to prevent, to stop”. Sudduu means “they are kept (from)”.

It has been commanded in this verse that you should ask from these senseless people: Are you so much intelligent and wise that you claim that you teach The Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, and you consider! We inform Him (Allah Almighty) about such matter which is not known to Him?

Your knowledge does not surround the entire things of the earth whereas you claim that you know everything including of the heaven. Are you going to inform Allah Almighty (Who is Aware of everything of the universe) that a partner also exists equal to Him on the earth, whom He does not know? Or whether have you been learning by rote a mere conjecture word of partner and do not reflect in its meaning?

The actual matter is that you have been deceived and apparent decoration of this deception has made you careless from the Truth, and you have been negligent from the Straight Path, unto which you cannot return.

Commentary

‘A – (Is?, whether), this verse begins with a question, but neither its answer has been described clearly and nor the question is complete, because as we recite forth, spontaneously the both are fully understood. Complete question is that: Whether these self-made gods may be equal to the Wise, the Seer and the Omnipotent Allah? Its answer is that: No.

it is commanded in this verse: Signs and manifestations of the Knowledge and Omnipotence of Allah Almighty have been shown and caused to understand you. He is well Aware of your secrets and mysteries. He can give rewards to the obedient and punish to the disobedient. Opposite to Him, neither your self-made gods hear and nor see. And if supposing; they hear and see, even then neither they are able to give anything and nor take. Can they be able to be equal to Allah Almighty in any case?

Then what does it mean that you bow before others leaving Him (God Almighty)? What is wrong with you; notwithstanding so much clear decision, as you praise Allah Almighty; you call others also save Him? What is the matter that you ascribe the stones, the idols and the stars etc. (which are lifeless) as partners equal to the Seer, the Hearer and the Lord Who has full Power to profit and hurt? While those are lifeless then how can they have power of giving or taking anything, hearing or seeing? If you consider that someone of such qualities exists, then you should name him/her.

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

32.  And verily messengers (of Allah) were mocked before thee, but I gave respite to those who disbelieved. At length I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment!
32.  Wa  laqadis-tuhzi-‘a  bi-rusulim-min-  qablika  fa-‘amlay-tu  lilla-ziina  kafaruu  summa  ‘akhaz-tuhum  fa-kayfa  kaana  ‘iqaab.

Commentary

‘Amlay-tu – (I gave respite), it is past tense from the word ‘imlaaa-‘un, which has come out from mala-wun. From the same origin, there is a word ‘umlii, which has passed in Suratul-‘A’-raaf.

It is commanded that according to the principle of creation of this world, this hope is useless that all human beings will believe and they will adopt the Straight Path. Tendency of fulfilling the desires in the world has deprived many people of this matter that they should give ear to the Sayings of the Messengers (peace be upon them). Ancient people behaved ill also with their Messengers (peace be upon them). Not only they denied from hearing their Sayings, but they afflicted, harassed by reproaching them and mocked openly of their Sayings.

The Infidels had established such way of their dwellings that none of them used to turn away save worldly works – laughing, joking, amusement, rejoicing, snatching money from one another, everyone’s anxiety of collecting things agreeable to mind whether those are collected by annoying others etc. Such works were their employment. The Messengers (peace be upon them) used to prevent them from such stupid matters. They used to say to them: Fear Allah Almighty. Control your wishes, otherwise you will be slain. The people used to reply: We don’t wish to hear such Sayings.

It is commanded: We too gave respite to the disbelievers. When they somehow did not refrain, then at length We seized and punished them. That punishment was very awful.

Promise of Allah - Quran Chapter 13 – 31b (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1592) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 13  31b (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1592) - درس قرآن

Promise of Allah

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

We knew from previous verses that for guidance of the mankind; everything has been provided in the world, but his sense has been left free after giving him power that he should know the Creator and Owner of the universe by observing portents of His Omnipotence, Kindness and Rage. He (the human being) should believe in the Holy Book (Qur’aan) and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him); and bear in mind his sayings every time. And he should surrender himself unto Allah Almighty with free-will and pleasure.

This is the lesson in these verses which is required to be taught to the people of Arab particularly and to the entire human beings of the world commonly. Those people, who embraced Islam by reciting and hearing the verses of Holy Qur’aan, they are being commanded: Uncommon demand of these disbelievers is only an imposture; otherwise everything exists in Holy Qur’aan for the wise people.

After that, it has been commanded to the Infidels: Give up evading and believe in Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) correctly. Act upon His Commands mentioned in Qur’aan, otherwise you should bear in mind that your End will not be good. That is sure what will happen on the Day of Resurrection, but in the world also; the disbelievers will not dwell with peace, and on or around them; such disasters will be coming from time to time, from which they will fear always. It is the promise of Allah Almighty, which certainly will be fulfilled.

This Chapter was revealed in Makkah but the Idolaters did not care. At last they saw with open eyes that the promise of Allah Almighty was fulfilled. After a few days; He bestowed power to the Muslims and some Idolaters of Makkah were slain in Battles, some became prisoners and were disgraced. Their Jewish supporters were also disgraced and expelled from their houses. Even Makkah was conquered and within a few days, Disbelievers were erased from that sacred Place. For common disbelievers, this promise is until the Day of Hereafter that they will suffer in the world from great accidents. After life they will be seized in the torment of the Day of Resurrection.

Commentary

The Believers should not think that if they do as the infidels say, then may be; they believe. Indeed, if even now; the miracles are shown according to their demand, it is not sure that they will believe. The Believers should regard it as true that Allah Almighty does not desire to bring the entire human beings forcibly on the right path. He has given understanding to the mankind and then He laid open His portents before them. He has sent His last Words of Command by means of His last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Even then if they do not believe, let them do their work. However they should bear in mind that in the world, they will not be blessed with peace. The disasters will be descended on or around them from time to time, which will hurt and keep them confused. Then on a Day, Promise of Allah Almighty will come to pass and they will reach their recompense fully for evil done. He does not break His tryst.

31a.  Had it been possible for a Lecture (Qur’aan) to cause the mountains to move or the earth to be torn asunder, or the dead to speak, (this Qur’aan would have done so). Nay, but Allah’s is the whole Command.
31a.  Wa  law  ‘anna  Qur-‘aanan  suyyi-rat  bihil-jibaalu  ‘aw-  qutti-‘at  bihil-‘arzu  ‘aw  kullima  bihil-maw-taa.  Bal-Lillaahil-‘Amru  jamii-‘aa.

Commentary

Suyyi-rat – (caused to move), it is past tense from the word tasii-yiir, origin of which is sayaraSayara means “to move”. Tasii-yiir means “to cause to move”.

Qutti-‘at – (to pull or burst asunder), it is a past tense also from the word taqtii’. Origin of which is qata-‘aQata-‘a means “to break off, to cut short”. Taqtii’ means “to tear asunder”.

This verse has been started with the conditional word “Law”, but with the condition, its retaliation has not been mentioned, which can be understood naturally, that is to say; “to be without any benefit”.

Holy Qur’aan desires to explain before them: Know God Almighty with His Auspicious Names and Attributes, so that you may get freedom from infidelity and polytheism. Holy Qur’aan produces correct perception of Allah Almighty before the mankind. Without setting up correct concept about the Creator, temperateness and resemblance cannot be born in the life of human being. Those people who do not correct the perception of Allah Almighty after hearing the verses of Holy Qur’aan, they destroy their time.

It has been explained the same in this verse that there is no need of appearance of any extraordinary or contrary to custom matter for knowing Allah Almighty, for example; saying by the people of Makkah: We shall believe in the Omnipotence of Allah and Messenger-hood of His Apostle when Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) will cause to move the mountain, flow the springs by tearing the earth asunder, produce a garden ready for fruit, bring the dead to life that they begin to speak.

Attributes of Allah - Quran Chapter 13 – 30 (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1589) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 13  30 (Pt-13, Stg-3) (L-1589) - درس قرآن

Attributes of Allah

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

When Messenger of Allah Almighty began to recite verses of Holy Qur’aan before the people of Makkah, at that time; there were two groups of the people. One group from them was of such people who used to call Allah Almighty but they did not believe in Him as required. Maximum; they had faith that He is a great Ruler, under Whose supervision; there were many junior rulers for performing normal routine works. They used to consider that all works of the people are done by means of the junior gods, and without their support, access unto the Great Ruler is impossible.

Holy Qur’aan has explained that there is No Ruler (God) save Allah Almighty. All decisions are in His hand and He gives necessary things to the entire living beings. He has many names. He is the Omnipotent, the Creator, the Beneficent, the Lord, the Giver and Bestower.

Because they were linguists, so they would have understood the meanings of Rahmaan. That is to say; Giver of everything is only He. This perception about Allah Almighty was against their accepted perception. They used to say: our requirements are fulfilled by these junior gods. If we believe that Allah is Rahmaan, then these junior gods will become entirely useless.

It was the reason that when a treaty among the Muslims and the Idolaters of Makkah was going to be written in the Peace Agreement of Hudaybia, Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) caused to write in the beginning “Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim (In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)”. But the people of Makkah said: we don’t know about Rahmaan, so you should write only “Bis-Millaah or Bis-Millaahumma”. At that time, their persistence was fulfilled. However in fact, Holy Qur’aan continued making clear the matter which It was desirous to explain.

It is commanded: If you believe in Allah Almighty, you should understand His Attributes and Names also, otherwise believing or disbelieving are equal. Such perception about Allah Almighty is not proper that “after creating the world, He has appointed some little rulers for its management and He Himself has been sitting aside. Now He has no connection with the works of every day”. Know; if you wish to understand it that the Creator of all things is Allah Almighty and only He is Who gives all things to His creatures. There is No so much Powerful but He only.

The Beneficent is only Allah

Surah Ra-‘d (The Thunder) - 13

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

30.  Thus We send thee (O Muhammad) unto a nation, before whom other nations have passed away, that thou mayst recite unto them that which We have inspired in thee, while they are disbelievers in the Beneficent. Say: He is my Lord; there is No God save Him. In Him do I put my trust and unto Him is my recourse.
30.  Kazaalika  ‘arsal-Naaka  fiii  ‘Ummatin  qad  khalat  min  qabli-haaa  ‘Umamul-litat-luwa  ‘alay-himul-laziii  ‘awhay-Naaa  ‘ilay-ka  wa  hum  yakfu-ruuna  bir-Rahmaan.  Qul  Huwa  Rab-bii  Laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huu.  ‘Alay-Hi  ta-wakkaltu  wa  ‘ilay-Hi  mataab.

Commentary

Mataabi – (my recourse), actually this word is mataabii, due to stopping; the last “i” has fallen. Its origin is “Tawbah”, which means to return, to invert, repentance, penitence, renunciation etc.

It is commanded that as Muslims and Disbelievers (both kinds of people) have passed away in previous nations, like them some people of this nation will not put their trust in You {O Muhammad, (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)}. We have sent You as last Messenger for guidance of good people, so that You may recite unto them Holy Qur’aan which We have revealed unto You by means of Inspiration; and they reap advantage from It. Though the Disbelievers hear it or otherwise. They disbelieve in the Beneficent. You O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) should say to them: He (Allah Almighty) is my Lord Who has No partner. I call you unto Him only, and He is my Supporter in every work. So I address only Him in my supplications and prayers.
