Lesson

Badr  - The first Battle among Islam and Infidelity took place on 17th Ramadan 2 AH. In the battlefield of Badr, a handful manpower of Muslims got such graceful victory that the spine of infidelity was broken. The Infidels judged first time about the strength of the Muslims. ‘Antum  ‘azillah  (you were contemptible). At that time, total strength of of Muslims was 313 (three hundred and thirteen only) including old, young, little (boys) and elder, who were able to fight. They all did not have proper weapons to fight. This entire Army had only 70 (seventy) camels and two horses. The swords and lances of some of them were broken. Even that, some people carried only staffs of the date trees for proceeding on Jihad.

Some Mujaahidiin of Islam were such persons, who were not able to fight due to their age and height, and the Messenger of God Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) wished that they should not go in the battlefield. But observing their longing, He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) was compelled to let them permit to go.

The Battle of Badr was a very hard trial of the Muslims’ courage and spirit. One thousand braves of Quraysh attacked under the command of well conversant generals including Abu Jehal {the father of ignorance and Abu Sufyan, the uncle of Prophet Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam)}. Many of them were riders. The men in armor out of them were three hundred. They all had each type of arms and equipment for warfare.

These one thousand Army Personnel, Intoxicated with power, assaulted against three hundred and thirteen Muslims. But in the first assault, this great multitude was compelled to retreat. Their seventy persons were slain, and the Muslims arrested their same strength. Those overcame who were weak and those were disgraced very badly who were powerful.

This verse has very great lesson in itself to satisfy the injured Muslims of the Battle of ‘Uhud and for pleasing the weak Muslims of the entire world. If Allah Almighty can support the Truth to conquer during its prime time of helplessness, then why the Billions of Muslims of today should be distressed in mind. They should trust in God Almighty and put their entire power in the eminence of Islam.
