Root of mischief - Quran Chapter 10 – 83 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1355) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10  83 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1355) - درس قرآن

Root of mischief

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

83.  Then none believed in Moses, save some scions of his people, (and they were) in fear of Pharaoh and their chiefs, that he would persecute them. And lo! Pharaoh was verily a tyrant in the land, and lo! He verily was of the wanton.

Commentary

Prophet Moses and His brother Aaron (peace be upon them) were true well-wishers of pharaoh. They wished to teach him, that he should consider thoughtfully on his condition, by causing to release him from the noose of his flatterers. But Pharaoh had acquired much power and his flatterers, who used to feel their betterment in accepting his all sayings without consciousness, were supporting him in all matters.

The nation of Moses (peace be upon him), the Children of Israel were very distressed from the tyranny of Pharaoh and used to consider that Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) was their Rescuer. But due to fear of Pharaoh and his flatterer chiefs, these people did not proclaim openly about their belief. Their senior people used to consider convenience in it that seemingly they should remain followers of Pharaoh. Therefore they used to advice their people that they should not help Moses (peace be upon him) against Pharaoh.

In this verse, it is commanded: Notwithstanding, (wizards of) Pharaoh had been defeated by Moses (peace be upon him) in the competition, even then; his influence was the same as it was. The people used to fear him due to the reason: If we opposed him; he will punish us. So apparently; they remained partisans of Pharaoh, and besides some courageous youth persons, none of them proclaimed about their belief.

It is a regular practice always in the world that powerful is commander and he vanquishes his opposite movements with force, but he does not think that the people have been becoming his enemies secretly, and they will finish him as soon as they will get chance.

(Section 9)

Commentary

This verse is summary of that which has been described so far. Holy Qur’aan desires to fix its principles in our mind; on which; arrangement of this world is established. Eventually, that will happen which has been explained, whether someone accepts it or otherwise. Study the history thoughtfully or recite with full attention that summary of history which Holy Qur’aan has produced before the human being. It will be obvious from the both that the person, who gained opportunity, tried to yield to the wishes of his supporters and caused to accept them with force from others. He considers disgrace in acknowledging the judgment of any other.

Now; if the other person is oppressive also like him; then it is sure that they will quarrel with each other. Pharaoh devised the same plan. He said to his people: That path is right on which we have been going. Moses (peace be upon him) wants to be the sovereign by repelling us. Therefore we would have to defeat Him.

It is commanded: When Moses (peace be upon him) observed running their ropes and sticks like terrible serpents, He (peace be upon him) said: Nothing is reality in this which you have been showing; but magic. Allah Almighty has commanded me! I destroy all of them instantly like a wrong word. Then He said: Such people who excite a disturbance in the world for keeping up their saying, Allah Almighty pulls down their entire plants and at the end, He executes which is necessary. But Allah, Honored and Glorified; does not let the selfish mischief-makers commit.

Competition with wizards - Quran Chapter 10 – 79 & 80 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1353) - درس قرآن

79.  And Pharaoh said: Bring every skillful wizard unto me.

80.  So when the wizards came, Moses said unto them: Cast your cast!
79.  Wa  qaala  Fir-‘aw-nu’-tuu-nii  bi-kulli  saa-hirin  ‘aliim.

80.  Fa-lammaa  jaaa-‘assa-ha-ratu  qaala  lahum-Muusaaa  ‘al-quu  maaa  ‘antum-mulquun.

Commentary

It is commanded that Pharaoh said to the both Prophets (Moses and Aaron - peace be upon them) that they were greedy of realm and wealth, and menaced them that he would not let them succeed. He said: I am king of this country and behold! I scheme to trouble you.

Pharaoh had already said that the both Prophets (peace be upon them) were magicians, so he said to his courtiers that there were many wizards in their country. They should bring chosen from them master wizards before Pharaoh. He said: I want to see these both wizards, who have been producing themselves in a new form, what do they do?

Complete detail of competition against the wizards has passed in Suratul-‘A’-raaf (Chapter -7). Here, the intention has been drawn unto such point only that greedy people of the world consider that others are also like them and oppose them, whereas they should think: May be that other people do not have any personal interest, and whatever they say, may be that is for our advantage. But the people entangled in the world can not be of such exalted position. They have the mind of only own office and greatness, and get ready to ruin every movement of other; considering it his selfishness.

Therefore, it has been described here that; the wizards were searched and called according to the order of Pharaoh, who stood before Moses (peace be upon him) for competition. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) said to them: Bring forth whatever you wish to cast.

78.  They said: hast thou come unto us to prevent us from that (faith) in which we found our fathers, and that you two may own the place of greatness in the land? We will not believe in you two.

Commentary

Greedy person wants to keep useful things in his possession. It is obvious that the root of this desire is his selfishness. But when some people succeed in this matter and this succession sets out for some period, then such plea of standing firm on it comes into their hands. They say: It is our ancient tradition, has been coming with effect from our fathers. None can compel us to leave it.

Like this, some other people succeed also opposite to them and they fix their arena separately from them, and these both groups begin to fight against each other and oppose them in all matters. The old group says to the new one: You are quarrelsome. You want to become grandeur and take possession of land by causing to leave our old traditions from us. We shall not let you succeed. It is the correct way of life which our ancestors have established. From the answer of Pharaoh’s folk; a very destructive fault of the mankind has been disclosed. Therefore, Holy Qur’aan has saved it for ever, so that the people should take warning from it.

It is commanded that Pharaoh and his companions said: Probably, you both want to establish your empire by defeating us. You desire to remove our so much old way of dwelling which has been running from generation to generation, and wish to be influential. We will never believe in you and let you succeed.

This diffidence of the human being is foundation of all calamities in the world. Any person’s any act of setting to right is not considered good by diffident people but it is taken that he wants to go ahead by pushing others away. Because one is greedy and selfish so he considers that entire people are like him, and he tries his best to prevent others from rising.

76.  And when the Truth from Our Presence came unto them, they said: Lo! This is evident magic.

77.  Moses said: Speak ye (so) of the Truth when it hath come unto you? Is this magic? And the magicians thrive not.

Commentary

It is commanded that when the Truth reached, they said on the basis of their sense and knowledge that it was evident magic, and except it they could originate nothing but think that they should consider the miracles of the Prophets (peace be upon them) as juggling of the magicians. Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) told them: juggling of the magicians are not real things, by showing which, some intelligent people please the public or grand people and receive some cash from them for their livelihood. They can never claim: We are Prophets of Allah; you will be punished by Him if you will not obey us.

If they do so, it cannot be accepted and they can never succeed in their pretension. Moreover, if they claim any big pretension, then their magic fails also. And they lose their power of providing temporary amusement. About magic; it has been discussed in Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (Chapter -2). Its reality is only that some people; whose power of thinking is excessive than ordinary people, they increase it by practice so much that imagination of other people follows their ideas and they begin to see the things which a magician imagines. It depends on his practice and there are fixed methods for it, which are known to the knowers and they carry it into effect. With the fixed methods, their thinking power acquires some strength of impressing the viewers on a point. It has many forms, but it cannot be gotten without practice. Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) of Allah Almighty are on very height from it. They do not do such kind of practice. They are granted power of showing miracles from Allah Almighty in time all at once.
