Disbelievers slay the Prophets and them who enjoin equity

Disbelievers slay the Prophets and them who enjoin equity

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verses – 21 & 22 of 200, Section – 3 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

21.  Lo! Those who disbelieve the Revelations of Allah, and slay the Prophets wrongfully, and slay those of mankind who enjoin equity; promise them a painful doom.

22.  Those are they whose works have come to naught in the world and the Hereafter; and they shall have no helpers.
21.  ‘Innallaziina yakfuruuna  bi-  ‘AayaaTIllaahi  wa  yaqtuluu-nan-Nabiyyiina  bi-gayri  haq-qinw-wa  yaqtuluunal-laziina  ya’-muruuna  bil-qisti  minan-naasi,  fa-bash-shirhum-  bi- ‘azaabin  ‘aliim.

22.  ‘Ulaaa- ‘ikallaziina  habitat  ‘a’-maaluhum  fid-dunyaa  wal- ‘Aakhirati  wa  maa  lahum- min- naasiriin.

Lesson

ya’-muruuna  bil-qisti  (who enjoin equity), that is to say; they guide the people for morality, good manners and courtesy, preach for justice in mutual matters and are their true companions.

The Christians of Najraan (Syria) and other Infidels are being described in this verse that it is very big tyranny to fight against the Messengers (peace be upon them), other pious and Just loving people, to quarrel with the religious advisers and slaughter them with cruelty being unbelievers in Allah Almighty. They will be punished very severely.

We have come to know from a Saying of the Prophet of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that the Children of Israel martyred 43 (forty three) Prophets (peace be upon them) and 170 (one hundred seventy) righteous persons in a day; and likewise they were counted in the list of the guilty. Holy Qur’an is presenting these entire happenings for the purpose that those tyrants, who say themselves the obedient of God Almighty, should meditate that how much their ancestors were evil-doers. Bereavement will be for such people in this world and in the Hereafter. Their entire deeds will be of no use and they will also be punished severely on the Day of Resurrection, and they will find there; no companion and nor any helper.

There are many things for our admonition in these events. We should escape ourselves fully from those sins and evils (errors) which were committed by the past nations, so that; the punishment in which they were arrested, that would not be sent down on us. It is necessary for us that we should not disobey the commands of Allah Almighty, should not molest the pious and righteous people. Moreover, we should run on the Straight Path; so that we may be successful in this world as well as on the Day of Resurrection.

If they argue with thee, say: I have surrendered my purpose to God Almighty

If they argue with thee, say: I have surrendered my purpose to God Almighty

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 20 of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

20.  And if they argue with thee, (O Muhammad), say: I have surrendered my purpose to Allah and (so have) those who follow me. And say unto those who have rejected the Scripture and those who read not: Have ye (too) surrendered? If they surrender, then truly they are rightly guided, and if they turn away, then it is thy duty only to convey the message (unto them). And Allah is Seer of (His) bondmen.
20.  Fa-‘in  haaajjuuka  faqul  ‘as-lamtu  wajhiya  LIllaahi  wa  manittaba-‘an.  Wa  qullillaziina  ‘uutul-Kitaaba  wal-‘ummiy-yiina  ‘a-‘aslamtum.  Fa-‘in  ‘as-lamuu  faqadih-tadaw.  Wa  ‘in-tawal-law  fa-‘innamaa  ‘alay-kal-balaag.  WAllaahu  Basiirum-  bil-‘ibaad.

Lesson

‘al-‘ummiy-yiina  (those who cannot read, illiterate people), here it aims the Idolaters of Al-Makkah, who did not know about the Heavenly Scriptures. Thus, except some counted persons; all habitants of this sacred city were illiterate and ignorant.

‘al-balaag  {to convey (the message)}, object from this word is to comfort the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), that “if these people do not believe, then you should not worry. Your job is to convey the message and invite only. It is not your responsibility to cause them to believe”.

The followers of the Scripture used to wrangle that “we are Muslims also”. They are being described in this verse that likewise hypothetical Islam is useless. Islam is that, which is held with the Last Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and his followers ((may Allah Almighty be pleased with them). That is to say, the humankind should surrender himself (embrace Islam) with the whole. Observe the habits of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him), the refugees (Muhajirin) and dwellers of Al-Madinah (Ansaar) (may Allah Almighty be pleased with them). They sacrificed themselves, their wealth, children and wives, to such extent that their entire desired and beloved things for the pleasure of Allah Almighty confronting the polytheism, immorality, wickedness and tyranny. Their eyes wait every time for the command of Allah Almighty that no sooner; they receive any order, than they obey it. Contrary to them, look at yourselves; while you are alone, you accept that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is on the right path. Nevertheless, you think, “if we believe in his Messenger-hood, the wealth and property of the world would be snatched”. Anyhow, after knowing the truth, if you will not believe, that is your will, we have already believed.

After that; the Idolaters are told, “Have you surrendered too or ready to surrender? If you surrender even now, then truly, you are rightly guided, and if you turn away, then it is our duty only to preach Islam, to teach you distinction between good and bad, and to convey the message of God Almighty unto you. Allah Almighty knows internal and external circumstances of all”.

The people of the Scripture differed after knowing

The people of the Scripture differed after knowing

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 19b of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

19b.  Those who (formerly) received the Scripture differed only after knowledge came unto them, through transgression among themselves. And whoso disbelieveth the Revelations of Allah (will find that) lo! Allah is Swift at reckoning.
19b.  Wa  makhtalafal-laziina  ‘uutul-Kitaaba  ‘illaa  mim-  ba’-di  maa  jaaa-‘ahumul-‘ilmu  bagyam-    baynahum.  Wa  many-yakfur  bi-  ‘AayaaTIllaahi  fa- ‘in-nAllaaha  Sarii- ‘ul-hisaab.

Lesson

It has been manifested in the previous lesson that Islam is a bright and clear Truth. From which kind of arguments; Messenger-hood of Prophet Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them), Torah and Gospel as Heavenly Scripture; can be proved, better than it, strong and live proofs exist regarding Messenger-hood of the last Prophet Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) and The Word Of God i.e. Holy Qur’an. But their own Scriptures are giving evidence about the truth of Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him).

Oneness of God Almighty is an obvious and understood subject. Contrary to Oneness, Ideology of Father and Son (God and Jesus) is only a meaningless thing. No scientific principle corroborates it. Now those persons, who believe in any one of the four Inspired Holy Books of God Almighty, falsify these conspicuous facts. If due to enmity of Islam; they disobey the commands of Allah Almighty, then what can we say more about them that they are doing so due to only enmity, envy, obstinacy, greediness of worldly rank and grandeur.

The dissension took place among the Christians and the Jews or many sects raised out of them. Then the adversity put to end on reciprocal terrifying quarrels and wars. The history tells that its purpose was not only misunderstanding or ignorance, but at most times, these sectarian contradictions grew due to love of wealth and property.

Those people who deny the commands of God Almighty, their punishment has also been explained, that is to say; Allah Almighty will reckon these bad acts and mischief. And He will punish them severely. They will have to face the punishment in this world as well as on the Day of Resurrection.

Cause of such severe punishment is their enmity and disobedience. Woe is to me that they differed at that time when the Knowledge came before them and the Reality disclosed. They did not join the truth when the reality was clear. But they opposed also the just due to only mutual opposite and enmity. The verses of God Almighty came before them, but they closed their eyes and went to the path of infidelity and denial. They forgot that, “God is Swift at reckoning”.

Religion with God is the Surrender (Islam)

Religion with God is the Surrender (Islam)

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 19a of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part one half of – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lo! Religion with Allah (is) the Surrender (Al-Islam) (to His Will and Guidance).
‘Innad-Diina  ‘indAllaahil-  ‘Islaam.

Lesson

‘Al- ‘Islaam  ( the Surrender, believing in the religion of God, obedience), literal meaning of Islam is ‘to surrender oneself’. Due to this respect, this religion is called “Islam”, because a Muslim affirms to bow his neck before the commands of Allah Almighty and surrender himself fully to One Most High God Almighty, as though, Islam is the name of “Accepting and obeying” and Muslim-hood (Musalmaani) is “the obedience).

Diinun  This word has two meanings,
a. Retaliation
b. Religion

It means such way of meditation and action; which is a foundation for consideration and deeds of an individual and a nation. The Fashion of life; which Allah Almighty has liked for His servants (Human beings), is Islam, that is to say; subjection and obedience, perfect and last form of which appeared in the world by means of Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).

Although, all former Prophets (peace be upon them) brought the same religion named Islam and invited their own folks unto the pure unity of God Almighty by delivering His commands. But in this regard, which perfect in all respect, collective and universal commands and guidelines have been passed by the last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), those have preference in many ways from ancient religious laws. Therefore, these were called with the name of Islam in a special color. However, it has been proclaimed in this verse before the Christians specially of Syria (Najraan) and commonly before the entire world that the religion is only the name of a thing, that is, every person should surrender himself to Allah Almighty wholeheartedly, and when and which command one receives from Him, should obey it without any hesitation.

Now those people who say that Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) is son of God Almighty (Let us flee to Allah), eat pork, slaughter the Prophets (peace be upon them), try to remove the true religion and despite the good news from Prophet Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them), envy the true Messenger (glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon them), Have these people any right to say themselves followers of the religion of Abraham (peace be upon them)?

For the example of perfect obedience, good attitude of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), auspicious lives of Prophet Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them) and in the last, very sacred life of the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) are complete role models for the humankind. Banishment of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), opposing Namrud, leaving alone His (peace be upon them) innocent infant and wife in the destitute valley; where water did not exist, for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, being prepared to sacrifice his son Ishmael (peace be upon them) in His Way. These entire things describe his (peace be upon him) activeness in God’s obedience and acceptance of His commands for His pleasure.

Enduring torture of enemies of God Almighty by the Messenger of Islam (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), migrating from his native land, fighting in the Path of Allah Almighty, clarify perfect subjection and obedience. These are the great and holy persons, who are imitable for human beings in all respect, and to follow them is called Islam and obedience. May God Almighty make us able to do so. Amen.

God (Himself) is Witness that there is no God save Him

God (Himself) is Witness that there is no God save Him

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 18 of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

18.  Allah (Himself) is witness that there is no God save Him, and the angels and the men of learning (too are witness), maintaining His creation with justice. There is no God save Him the Almighty, the Wise.
18.  Shahi-dAllaahu  ‘anna-Huu  laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huwa-wal-malaaa-‘ikatu  wa  ‘ulul-‘ilmi  qaaa-‘imam-  bil-qist.  Laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huwal-‘Aziizul-Hakiim.

Lesson

Shahi-dAllaahu  (Allah is witness), this evidence of God Almighty has come again and again in the Heavenly Scriptures. Besides this, every particle of the universe is testifying that none is worthy of worship save one Lord, Who is Creator and God of the entire worlds. Testimony of Divine’s Scriptures has prestige of written evidence and the entire things of earth and skies (universe) provide reasonable evidence. As though, both types of proofs exist (logical and written).

‘Al-malaaa-‘ikatu  - {the Angles (peace be upon Them)}, it means that the Angles (peace be upon them) also testify that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Almighty. As though, it has been cleared too that the Angels (themselves) (peace be upon them) sing the songs of Oneness of Allah Almighty, who are considered by the Idolater Nations as gods and goddesses.

‘ulul-‘ilmi  - (the men of learning, the educated, the scholars), ‘ilm means “to know and understand”. The knowledge is not only the name of learning the letters and reading the books, but it is the name of knowing the facts of things and cognition of the reality. Either it is by meditation or by experience and observation. Therefore, ‘ulul-‘ilmi means those educated people who have capability to know about the facts and ability to recognize.

In the beginning of this section, the Christians of Syria (Najraan) were addressed, and it was proclaimed in a very well manner about Oneness of God, and by proving to be wrong the faith of divinity of the Christ.  Other matters were also discussed at that time; which prevent from believing in Oneness of Allah Almighty, for example, the wealth, children and the things of luxurious enjoyment. Then attributes of the Believers were described, who remain steadfast on the Right in spite of all these obstacles. After this, discussion about Oneness has begun again.

What difficulty can be occurring to believe in Oneness while Allah Almighty (Himself) is witness by means of His work (Nature) besides His Scriptures that only He is worthy to be worshiped. Besides this; His Angles (peace be upon them) and the men of learning also testify about Oneness of Allah Almighty. Not having belief in Oneness and standing still on the belief in a plurality to God Almighty is clearly Ignorance.

Allah Almighty has explained by describing His Virtue, “qaaa-‘imam-  bil-qist” (maintaining His creation with justice), that speaking about the Expiation by the Christians is untrue, because; how can it be possible that only one individual is settled as responsible of the sins of the entire community and he causes to release them all by being punished alone. On the contrary, Allah Almighty maintains His creation with justice. He will confer full retaliation of the entire acts (good or bad) of every human being.

Our Lord! Lo! We believe, so forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire

Our Lord! Lo! We believe, so forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verses – 16 & 17 of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

16.  Those who say: Our Lord! Lo! we believe, so forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire.

17.  The steadfast, and the truthful, and the obedient, and those who spend (and hoard not), and those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.
16.  ‘Allaziina  yaquuluuna  Rabbaanaaa  ‘innanaaa  ‘aamannaa-  fagfir-lanaa  zunuubanaa  wa  qinaa  ‘azaaban-Naar.

17.  ‘As-Saabiriina  was-Saadi-qiina  wal- Qaanitiina  wal-Munfiqiina  wal-Mustagfiriina  bil- ‘as-haar.

Lesson

Bil- ‘as-haar  (in the watches of the night), Sahar is the time when darkness of night mingles with the light of dawn. This last part of the night has the characteristic that particularly this time is the time for satisfying and awakening of the spiritual powers, although it is difficult for oneself to awake at that time.

Virtues of those people have been described in the verse who were called the pious persons and “those who keep away from the evil, with their Lord, are Gardens; underneath which; rivers flow; wherein; they will abide for ever, and pure companions, and goodwill of Allah”. These good manners have been appended below:

1.       These people use to become pattern of humility and meekness instead of being proud and arrogant on their piety and sobriety. They pray from Allah always, “O Lord, forgive our sins and save us from the Fire of Hell”.

2.       They remain in patience. Whenever, they are put in an trial, they beg from Allah Almighty to bestow them constancy and steadfastness.

3.       These people are honest in their sayings, heart and intentions. They are pure in matters, straightforward, abstinent from telling a lie, deceit or hypocrisy.

4.       They remain stick to obey the commands of God Almighty despite undergoing through very hardships; avoid committing evils, and hate wrong deeds and sins.

5.       They spend from the wealth given by Allah Almighty at His prescribed times, do not be stingy and miser. They take part actively in paying charitable donations and do not waste any opportunity of goodness.

6.       They pray for pardon of their sins and errors from their Lord awaking in the last part of the night. That is to say; they spend last part of night in worship and likewise they remain seekers of forgiveness from sins sincerely.

We must try to create these qualities into ourselves, so that we may also join the pious people and deserve the blessings of Allah Almighty.

Better thing is Paradise for those who keep away from evils

Better thing is Paradise for those who keep away from evils

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 15 of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

15.  Say: Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who keep away from evil, with their Lord, are Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they will abide for ever, and pure companions, and goodwill of Allah. And Allah is Seer   of His Bondmen.
15.  Qul  ‘a-‘unabbi-‘ukum  bi-khayrim-min-  zaalikum.  Lil-laziinat-taqaw  ‘inda  Rabbihim  Jannaatun  tajri  min-  tahtihal-  ‘anhaaru  khaalidiina  fiihaa  wa  ‘azwaajum-mutah-haratunw-wa  rizwaanum-minAllaah.  WAllaahu  Basiirum- bil-‘ibaad.

Lesson

‘a-‘unabbi-‘ukum  (Shall I inform you?), this word has been derived from the word nabaa’ which means “the News”. The word Nabii has also been made from it, literal meaning of which is ‘an Informer’ (peace be upon Him).

mutah-haratun  (pure, chaste and neat), that is to say; innocent, pure and clean from every kind of corporeal nastiness and filth.

About that abode and its characteristics have been described in this lesson, which was mentioned in the previous verse. Allah Almighty says that the best of the blessings is reserved for the Abstinent. All excellence of the Hereafter are for them only.

Blessings of the world like wealth, children, husbandry and livestock etc. all are fickle and inconstant. These are neither to be trusted and nor reliable. To exult into them and make them purpose of life; to acquire these things after forgetting God Almighty is not sagacity. The advantage must be reaped according to the Divine Law and remaining within its limits. One should be afraid of the disobedience of Allah Almighty always and His wrath, and should adopt the Way of God fearing, because Allah Almighty has promised for those righteous people to give them such a beautiful Garden, in which; there will be cold and sweet water flowing. They will find there good and pious wives, and life of eternity. Best of all, they will get pleasure and consent of Allah Almighty, with which; they will get satisfaction of their hearts, comfort and happiness. Only Abstinent people would be able to gain these blessings.

At the end, Allah Almighty commanded that He observes every individual’s intention and deeds. Nothing is, even any most little thing is not; hidden from Him. Therefore, we should be careful, pass our lives righteously and hope for getting reward of our good acts.

The provision of the life of the world

The provision of the life of the world

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 14 of 200, Section – 2 of 20, (Part – 3)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

14.  Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is provision of the life of the world. And Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.
14.  Zuyyina  linnaasi  hubbush-shahawaati  minan-nisaaa-‘i  wal-baniina  wal-qanaatiiril- muqan-tarati  minazzahabi  wal-fizzati  wal-khay-lil- musawwamati  wal-‘an-‘aami  wal-hars.  Zaalika  mataa-‘ul-hayyatid-dunyaa.  WAllaahu  ‘indaHuu  husnul-ma-‘aab.

Lesson

Zuyyina  linnaasi  (beautified for the humankind), it has been described in this verse that the love, inclination and attraction of these things is a natural matter and in itself, there is no sin. However, advantage from these things should be reaped, remaining in the subjection of the Commands of Divine and their love should be kept limited in the lawful limits.

hubbush-shahawaati  (love of the joys), the word shahawaat, indicates here towards desirable, pleasant and those things, which provide joy. In this way, it means “Wishes and desires of the humankind”.

mataa-‘ul-hayyatid-dunyaa  (the provision of the life of the world), it aims that these entire kinds of things are not able to be amused very much. These should not be formed as purpose of life. These are useful only in this world. The world is transitory and its all arrangements are mortal also.

God Almighty has commanded that some attraction has been put in some worldly things by Him naturally for the human being. The mankind likes these things very much. But many people involve themselves into them so much that they forget their Creator, their Lord. There is no sin in itself to value these things. These are compulsory things for living in the world. It is not bad to reap benefits from them but care is necessary that inclination towards them must not be more than necessity. Because doing so, the human being will become overjoyed into them. With the passage of time, he will consider them purpose of life and forget his actial goal. He will miss the right path.

It should be borne in mind that these things are transitory. These are useful only in the world. Relationship with them will be cut immediately after death. Therefore, one should arrange also for the Day of Resurrection; keeping them at their correct place. Real Abode is there (after death) and the eternity too is for that life only.

Commentary on Last Scripture
