Moses and Aaron

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

75.  Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron unto Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our Signs but they were arrogant and were a guilty folk.
75.  Summa  ba-‘asNaa  mim- ba’-dihim-Muusaa  wa  Haaruuna  ‘ilaa  Fir-‘awna  wa  mala-‘i-hii  bi-‘AayaatiNaa  fas-takbaruu  wa  kaanuu  qawmam-muj-rimiin.

Commentary

After the narration about Prophet Noah (peace be upon him), mention of which nations and their Prophets (peace be upon them) is coming in Holy Qur’aan, those are:

·         Tribe of A’AD – Prophet HUD (peace be upon him) was sent unto them.

·         Tribe of THAMUD - Prophet SALIH (peace be upon him) was sent unto them.

·         Folk of ABRAHAM (peace be upon him).

·         Tribe of LOT (peace be upon him).

·         Tribe of MIDIAN – Prophet SHU’EYB (peace be upon him).

They all adopted the act of revolting as the people before them and falsified their Prophets (peace be upon them). At last they were ruined. After all of them, Prophet Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) came unto the Children of Israel for saving them from the tyranny of Pharaoh and his chiefs of Egypt. With effect from this verse, their mention has begun; which is lengthy enough.

It is commanded: After Noah (peace be upon him), Prophets (peace be upon them) used to come unto their people and cause to understand them, but they did not listen to their Prophets (peace be upon them) and were smitten by the wrath of Allah Almighty. Then after a long time in Egypt, Pharaoh and his rich people and effectively chieftains chose the way of haughtiness and rebellion.

The Children of Israel, who came in Egypt during the time of Prophet Joseph (peace be upon him) and settled here, became victim of their tyranny and injustice.

Here, Pharaoh’s mutiny, circumstances of Prophets Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) have been described for showing that the mankind chooses the path of refractoriness again and again. It is commanded that Moses and Aaron (peace be upon them) came unto Pharaoh with the message that he should give up rebellion and arrogance. He is not most powerful. The most Powerful is Allah Almighty; in Whose Omnipotence is the entire universe. He (Pharaoh) should prostrate before Him and obey His Command. He should treat all people equally and with justice; instead of molesting the Children of Israel.

Pharaoh and his courtiers had reached the end in refractoriness. Pharaoh, himself had become god and his chiefs used to praise him falsely and give him religious offering. They did not regard the instructions of the Prophets (peace be upon them), and continued committing in such evils of which they had been habitual.

Circumstances after Noah - Quran Chapter 10 – 74 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1349) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10  74 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1349) - درس قرآن

Circumstances after Noah

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

74.  Then, after him, We sent Messengers unto their folk, and they brought them clear proofs; but they were not ready to believe in that which they had before denied. Thus print We on the hearts of the transgressors.
74.  Summa  ba-‘asNaa  mim-  ba-dihii  Rusulan  ‘ilaa  qaw-mihim  fajaaa-‘uuhum-  bil-bay-yi-naati  famaa  kaanuu  li-yu’-minuu  bimaa  kazzabuu  bihii  min  qabl.  Kazaalika  Natba-‘u  ‘alaa  quluubil-mu’-tadiin.

Commentary

Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) incited his nation hundred thousand times to good but they were not attentive. What was the reason? The only reason was that; they had fixed their own way of living in the world. They had established different classes of the people. Esteemed people used to command, whereas the people of lower class used to perform menial service for the higher class. Wherever honored people used to strut over the elevated seats, and the servants; standing around them, used to run here and there on their indications, they used to enjoy it and exult.

On the others side, Noah (peace be upon him) used to admonish them: All mankind are creature of Allah Almighty and equal. Neither any of them is of higher class and nor someone belongs to any lower class.

It is learned that “powerful persons accomplish their desires by distressing the weak”, is an ancient disease in the human beings. Whosoever forbids them from doing so is considered by them as their enemy.

It is commanded: After Noah (peace be upon him), We sent different Messengers (peace be upon them) unto different nations from time to time, who explained them very clearly that Allah Almighty has bestowed some powers; more to some people and less to others, for the purpose that the strong people should help the weak with their strength, but the entire nations adopted the same behavior; which was committed by refractory people before them. They falsified the Messengers (peace be upon them) and did whatever they wished.

The individual who follows his desires, his heart turns away from the good, as if; it has been sealed. Then it does not accept the influence of advice and exhortation. In the verse, it has been described that “Printing on the hearts is result of transgression”. ‘A’-tadaa’ means transgression, violation of law – that is to say, use of force against the weak. It is such disease which wrecks the humanity.

The end of those who are persistent - Quran Chapter 10 – 73 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1348) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10  73 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1348) - درس قرآن

The end of those who are persistent

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

73.  But they denied him, so We saved him and those with him in the ship, and made them viceroys (in the earth), and We drowned those who denied Our Revelations. See then the nature of the consequence for those who had been warned.
73.  Fakaz-zabuuhu  fanaj-jay-Naahu  wa mamma-‘ahuu  fil-Fulki  wa ja-‘alNaahum  kha-laaa-‘ifa  wa  ‘agraq-Nallaziina  kazzabuu  bi-‘Aayaati-Naa.  Fanzur  kayfa  kaana  ‘aaqiba-tul-mun-zariin.

Commentary

Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) caused to understand his people for a long time but they did not change themselves. Only a few poor people believed in Him (peace be upon him), but the honored people of the nation kept themselves away from Him. Another pretence came into their hand that “Vulgar people encircle him (peace be upon him) every time”. Therefore, they began to desert Him (peace be upon him) more than earlier. Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) said: I know only it; that they should listen to the Message of Allah Almighty. I have no concern with their caste or profession. Its computation is with Allah Almighty. My duty is to exhort them. Whoever is ready to hear and understand, should come unto me (peace be upon him) with fondness and hear the Word of Allah Almighty.

In the end, Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) said to his people being distressed: Go away and do; what you wish. My Supporter is Allah Almighty.

In this verse, it is commanded: You have heard the behavior of the people of Noah (peace be upon him). Now, hear about their end. They said to Our Prophet Noah (peace be upon him): We do not trust in your sayings. They falsified him (peace be upon him) publicly and continued their working. Eventually; they were punished. We saved Noah (peace be upon him) and all those who had ridden in the ship along with him, and drowned entire remaining disbelievers in the storm. When they sank and the water dried, then the same people; who were in the ship, resided in the dwellings of drowned people, and became their locum-tenens. Behold the end of those who were frightened but they did not fear.

Dignity of the friends of Allah - Quran Chapter 10 – 72 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1347) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 10  72 (Pt-11, Stg-3) (L-1347) - درس قرآن

Dignity of the friends of Allah

Surah Yuunus (Jonah) - 10

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

72.  But if ye are averse I have asked of you no wage. My wage is the concern of Allah only, and I am commanded to be of those who surrender (unto Him).
72. Fa-‘in  tawallay-tum  famaa  sa-‘altukum-min-  ‘ajr.  ‘In  ‘ajri-ya  ‘illaa  ‘alAllaahi  wa  ‘umirtu  ‘an  ‘akuuna  minal-Mus-limiin.

Commentary

It has been explained: after that, Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) said to his people! I do not demand wage of my work from you. God preserve you from it. I perform my duty only for the Cause of Allah Almighty and do not want anything from you. Only He is my Befriender and Patron.

After it, it is obvious that neither I fear your pomp and show, influence, wickedness or intelligence, and nor am I seeker of any kind of subsistence of life from you. And I have never devised that I should rule over the people with your help by making you believers and nor say to you: Donate me contribution for carrying on my work of preaching and betterment, and arrange for my provisions. There is no interest of mine which depends on you. I am servant and obedient of my Lord Almighty only and shall keep obeying His commands up to the time of my death. Neither you can stop me; by harassing or harming; from my work, and nor seduce me by enticing of wealth and riches.

Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) has manifested the way of salvation and success; for always; in His precious words, which have been described in above mentioned verses.

On one side, it has been taught to the leaders, chieftains and guides that the work of being set to right will be proper at the time when they will neither have any personal wish from the people, and nor will they be desirous of being illustrious, and nor will they drop behind acquiring wealth and property.

On the other side, the public has been warned that if they are desirous of being saved from ruin and destruction, they should learn distinguishing among true well-wishers and liar leaders.

Commentary

‘Aj-mi-‘uuu – (decide), it is a tense of command from the word ‘ajmaa’, which has come out from the word jama’. Jama’ means – to gather, to collect. ‘Ajmaa’ means – to determine, to bring the plan to end by meditating deeply that there is no weakness or vacuum in it now. Another meaning of this word is – gathering all partisans of own for a decision. Here; the above mentioned word has been used for both meanings.

Gumma-tan – (complication, doubt), this word has been derived from gam. Gam means such confusion, perplexity or doubt, due to which one feels affliction but cannot judge –why?

It is commanded: O Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! Cause to hear them by reciting the story of Prophet Noah (peace be upon him). He (peace be upon him) used to admonish His nation by all means that they should believe in Allah Almighty and obey Him. When they did not carry out His (peace be upon him) instructions, then Noah (peace be upon him) said: Go, look at closely and make plans against Me; if you don’t like. Collect your entire false gods and give Me (peace be upon him) no respite. I also turn towards Allah Almighty.
