(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ 56

  وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْبَنَٰتِ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَلَهُم مَّا يَشْتَهُونَ 57

57.  And they assign a portion of that which We have given them unto what they know not. By Allah! But ye will indeed be asked concerning (all) that ye used to invent.

57.  And they assign unto Allah daughters – be He Glorified! -and unto themselves what they desire-
56.  Wa  yaj-‘aluuna  lima  laa  ya’-lamuuna  nasiibam-mim-maa  razaqNaahum.  Tallaahi  la-tus-‘alunna  ‘ammaa  kuntum  taf-taruun.

57.  Wa  yaj-‘aluuna  Lillaahil-banaati  Sub-haanaHuu,  wa  la-hum-maa  yashta-huun.

Commentary

Yashta-huuna – (they desire), origin of this word is ‘ishti-haa-‘un, which has been derived from shah-watunShah-watun means “desire, wish, will”. We use this word only for sexual desires, whereas in Arabic language; every desire is shah-watun‘Ishti-haa-‘un means “to desire, hunger, quest etc.”

Holy Qur’aan causes to learn that you should give up offering and sacrificing on the names of idols. Whatever you receive; gives Allah Almighty. While tillage, trade or cattle, everything is given by Him only, then why do you separate a portion of idols from the production? It has been commanded in this verse: The infidel people assign a portion of idols from the provisions given by Allah Almighty, which is extremely injustice. You will indeed be asked about these false worshipped, which have been fabricated by your own hands that “whence have they come”? Satan has misled you. You accept Allah Almighty by your mouths, but neither your hearts give Him any importance and nor you know well about His Epithets. Behold! Allah Almighty is Pure from having descendants, whereas you assign unto Him daughters. Repent of your such attribution. He is above the entire kinds of indigence and not needy of children. Marvel is this that you like the best things for yourselves as you ask always for a son, but attribute unto Allah useless and worthless things.

53.  And whatever of comfort ye enjoy, it is from Allah; then, when misfortune reacheth you, unto Him ye cry for help.

54.  And afterward, when He hath rid you of the misfortune, behold! a party of you attribute partners to their Lord-

Commentary

Taj-‘aruuna – (you cry for help, you sue), origin of this word is ja-‘araJu-‘aarun means “causing to come out a harsh voice or crying of any cow bitterly from which; it seems that she needs something”.

It is commanded that every that comfort which you have been enjoying, is from your Lord (Allah Almighty). Sometimes, misfortune reaches you by any thing and in this condition; you forget every thing and cry for the help of God only. Consequently He rids you of from the misfortune. A little later, you forget Allah Almighty and consider that others than Him are solvers of your difficulties.

It shows clearly that you deny the favors of Allah Almighty and consider that those things are your benefactors and helpers, which you see before you. Whereas those things have been witnessing themselves that those are helpless but Allah Almighty is the Omnipotent. In such condition He was Able to punish you due to your thanklessness. But He is Merciful and Forbearing, Who does not seize you immediately. It is the reason that He has been giving you chances of reaping advantages from His favors. At last a time will come that the respite will come to an end. Then every wrongdoer will come to know that how much he/she had been entangled in fooleries?

وَلَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًا أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ 52

51.  Allah hath said: Choose not two gods. There is only One God. So of Me, Me only, be in awe.

52.  Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him alone is all obedience and submission. Will ye then fear any other than Allah?
51.  Wa  qaalAllaahu  laa  tatta-khizuuu  ‘ilaa-haynis-nayn.  ‘Innamaa  Huwa  ‘Ilaahunw-Waahid.  Fa-‘iyyaaya  farhabuun.

52.  Wa  lahuu  maa  fis-samaa-waati  wal-‘arzi  wa  laHud-Diinu  waasibaa.  ‘Afa-gayrAllaahi  tattaquun.

Commentary

‘Irhabuuna – (Fear Me!), the word ‘Irhabuu is a Word of Command from rahabaRahab means “to fear (along with which, there is shivering and restlessness in the heart)”. At the end of this word; letter “n” is superfluous and then after the letter “n”, “ii” comes, which means “Me”. Due to stopping of the sentence, the last, “ii” have been reduced.

Waasibun – (always, for ever), it is the subject from the word wasaba, which means “perpetuity”. So waasibun means “perpetual, permanent”.

It has been included in the nature of a mankind that he goes astray when he is misled. So there is a need of showing Straight Path to him. Keeping in view the nature of human being, Allah Almighty sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) and the Scriptures from time to time. And Allah Almighty commanded: Behold! You should never choose two gods (worshipped). In truth, Worshipped (God) is only One, and He can be only One, Who is “Me”. Therefore you should be in awe from Me and listen! Whatsoever is in the heavens and in the earth; is of Me.

The fact is that always the obedience and submission is incumbent of Him only, while one and all are helpless before Him, then how can any other profit or harm to someone without His command? Then why do you fear any other save Allah Almighty?

50.  Yakhaa-fuuna  Rabba-hum-min-  fawqihim  wa  yaf-‘aluuna  maa  yu’-maruun.
(As-Sajdah – Bow-down) (section 6)

Commentary

Daaabba-tun – (of living creatures, that; which moves), this word has passed in Suratul ‘An-‘aam. Every such living thing which moves on the earth; is called “daaabba-tun”.

It is commanded: Every thing of the heavens, whether that seems very grand, and like this, every living thing of the earth, makes prostration unto God Almighty. And while the living creatures have bowed down, then what is the question of the lifeless? No one has any power of disobeying His commandment. Moreover, that splendid creature which is called angels, have been making prostration before Allah Almighty submissively, although they are powerful and degree holders.

They know that “our entire power and honor has been bestowed by Allah Almighty. We are quite helpless before Him. And without His Command and Permission, we can do nothing”. They do never think about their greatness. They understand well that “above all of us is our Lord; Allah Almighty, and under His Command, we all assume our duties according to His Commandment for which we have been appointed separately. Therefore, we have no rank save it that we should adore Him and obey most willingly for which He commands us”. So they perform what is commanded to them.

These verses are of “Prostration”, that is to say, it is necessary for every that person who recites or hears these two verses that he/she should make prostration unto Allah Almighty.

Commentary

Yata-fayya-‘u – (they incline), origin of this word is fai-‘unFai-‘un means – the shadows which incline after post meridian.

Zilaaluhuu – (their shadows), this word is plural of zillun. Zillun means – a shadow which is during anti meridian. The same shadow becomes fai-‘un after post meridian.

Daakhiruun – (lowly, humble, mean), it is plural of daakhir, which is the subject and have been derived from the word Dakhara. Dakhara means – obeying someone else being helpless. A word which has the same meaning, is saagiruuna, has passed in Suratut-Tawbah.

It has been commanded in this verse: O heedless people! Have you ever seen to the shadow? The shadow of everything rises in the morning and then it begins to decrease. It firms in the meridian and then when the sun begins to set, it begins to incline again. In all such conditions it lies down on the earth. Sometimes it moves to the right and sometimes to the left. Its forehead lasts every time before Allah Almighty.

Is it not sufficient to cause to know the people that even this shadow too does not turn away a little from the Divine Law? Moreover, the things, shadows of which make prostration in obedience of Allah Almighty, are helpless before Him. And those things are unable to slide hither or thither even a little from His that Law, which He has fixed for them. Is this lowly and baseness not a proof of the Existence of Allah Almighty Who is the Strongest and Omnipotent? Concluding only this by looking the things that “these are for our eating, these places are for our living and these are ready to serve us” is our foolishness. We have to know Allah Almighty by reflecting into them.

46.  ‘Aw  ya’-khuzahum  fill  ta-qallubihim  famaa  hum-bi-mu’-jiziin.

47.  ‘Aw  ya’-khuzahum  ‘alaa  takhaw-wuf.  Fa-‘inna  Rabbakum  la-Ra-‘uufur-Rahiim.

Commentary

Ta-qallubun – (going to and fro), this word has been derived from qa-la-baQalab means “to change”. Taqallubun – “to change place, to go, to move”.

Takhaw-wufun – (to fear), it has come out from the word khawfun, which also means the same, but in process of time.

It has been mentioned in these verses that when you have been engaged in your business carelessly and going to and fro thoughtlessly, in such condition it is possible that unknowingly, the doom of God Almighty come and seize you, because you have no power to control Him and restrict Him with force from sending doom on you. Or it can be that He finish you gradually by frightening and causing you to sob, and you may do nothing that “our condition has been deteriorating day by day but we are unable to take precautions”. It has been observed in some noxious diseases. Or sometimes the income begins to decrease, but the man cannot do something and the income reaches zero point by degrees. The mankind lives in such condition that the life becomes worse than death.

Remember it that Allah Almighty can do all this and your manners also deserve it that you should be destroyed all of a sudden or leisurely. But Allah Almighty is Full of Pity and Merciful on His slaves. His Kindness and Mercy hinder the doom.

Commentary

Makaruu – (they planned, deceived), it is a past tense from the word makara, which has come earlier at various places. It means “to behave deceitfully”. Makarus-sayyi-‘aati means “they thought such vicious plans, base of which may be on wickedness and mischief”, for instance, they will have the upper hand over all and will not let the good people arise.

It is commanded: Do you consider that you have become masters of the entire world by possessing some weapons, equipment and threatening others by making up stories? Do you not fear from the earthquake if you are pierced in the earth or such dooms come suddenly about which you did never think? Behold! Can your “confidential planning of ill-deeds and precautionary measures of all kinds for safety from all future disasters” save you? If you think so, then you should have a sensation. Many such deeds and plans are ready with Allah Almighty about which you could never think. And He can send the doom on you from such place whence you cannot have any doubt of it. You should not be deceived if He has been loosening and giving you respite. It is demand of His Mercy that He gives chance of thinking and understanding to His ignorant servants and does not punish at the spot. Otherwise if they chose insistence then there is no delay in sending the doom. (God forbid).

(Part One-Half)

Commentary

Zikrun – (Remembrance), Zikr means “to remember” and such matters and sayings of guidance; which are written at any place, and by reading of which, old matters can be recollected. Here it aims Holy Qur’aan, Which reminds all such good matters which have been taught to ancient people.

It is commanded in this verse: Last Ring of the same Chain is Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), to whom We gave the last Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’aan and sent in the world, so that – the work of mankind’s guidance, which was started by means of Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them), that should be completed and authenticated.

“Now, O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)! You should cause to know this last Book (Holy Qur’aan) to the people clearly, which has been sent for their guidance until the Hereafter, and in which the summary of the entire Religious Laws of God Almighty have been mentioned, so that they may be able to solve their all difficult problems in its Light”.

From this verse, we knew two matters:

1.    Those all good things have been included in Holy Qur’aan, which did exist in the Scriptures of ancient Messengers (peace be upon them). Wise people of every place during all times can infer the solution of their entire difficulties by searching from this Book and reflecting.

2.    Messenger of Allah Almighty, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has manifested also by His words and acts; that way of guidance, by which it has become easy to solve our problems. Therefore, Hadith {Sayings of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)}, words of the Religious Directors and Righteous Ancestors are Flambeau of the Way for us, without which we cannot do our work.
