Lesson # 407

Anger of God on the People of the Scripture

Surah ‘Aali ‘Imraan (The Family of Imran - 3), Stage – 1,
Verse – 112a of 200, Section – 12 of 20, (Part – 4)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

112a.  Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save (where they grasp) a rope from Allah and a rope from men. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them.
112a.  Zuribat  ‘alayhimuz-zillatu  ‘ayna  maa  suqifuuu ‘illaa  bi-Hablim-minAllaahi  wa  Hablim-minannaasi  wa  baaa-‘uu  bi  gazabim-minAllaahi  wa zuribat  ‘alay-himul-maskanah.

Lesson

Zuribat  – {grievous hurt, is stroke, shall be (their) portion} this Arabic word is also used besides above meanings as “to walk, to affix and to impose.. ”. It has been used for these three meanings in the Holy Qur’aan too. Here it has been used as the last meanings of ‘affixed’ or ‘imposed’ (ignominy upon them).

Zillatun- (Ignominy), this word is used commonly for humiliation and disgrace. Some disgraced people and nations remain deprived of respect and honor in spite of their knowledge, wealth and independence. The disgrace and the humiliation surround them.

Hablim-minAllaahi  - (a rope or promise from Allah), it means, till the time, these people do not make the Divine law of Islam as theirs’ own and follow not God’s Instructions, ignominy will not be kept away from them. (For more detail; please revise the lesson of verse # 103a).

Hablim-minannaasi  - (a rope or promise by the people), second condition has been determined that if it is not so, then they would have to enter in the articles of agreement with the human beings. Till they will not get the support of other nations, will not be able to get rid of the disgrace and humiliation.

baaa-‘uu  bi  gazabim-minAllaahi  -  (They have incurred anger from their Lord), that is to say; they have been arrested in the grasp of God’s wrath due to their evil doings and bad deeds, Divine wrath has been imposed on them.

‘al-maskanah -  (wretchedness), poverty and indigence are also forms of anger and wrath of Allah Almighty. Financial misery and economic breakdown are main causes of disgrace themselves; of any nation.
